Shortly after Tarik stepped back into the room with the gym bag to hide his naked body, Kayleb began telling the story behind his predicament. He wanted to tell his whole life story, starting with the incident that led him there and the real reason for his stay. But he feared their reaction, which he couldn't live with when they saw him differently because they knew his dark past.

Unable to bear the looks of absolute fear or disappointment on their faces, he kept his mouth shut about this period of his life.

But just the story with his soulmate brought James new vitality. There was something dark in his eyes: a spark he'd only seen in one other person before. Almost as if he had been waiting for this. Kayleb would have happily delved deeper into this subject if the little Omega he was helping hadn't started tugging at his shirt to get his attention.

His small, glossy eyes were filled with tears. There was so much agony in them. Kayleb's attention promptly shifted to the boy. He spoke first, before the boy could say anything.

"What pack are you in?" His sudden voice made the boy visibly flinch.

The boy tried hard to think about what to say to the shockingly taller boy. Because he respected him and was grateful for his help, he didn't want to lie like his Alpha had ordered him to. However, he also knew his place, so he just kept quiet. However, it didn't take long for Kayleb's gaze to intensify before the small boy broke.

"In your soulmate's pack, sir," he calmly, obedient replied.

James gave the boy a questioning look. Under normal circumstances, no one would address another wolf so formally unless they were higher in their pack's hierarchy than themselves.

Kayleb didn't like the boy's obedience at all. He was slightly agitated, so he almost bellowed, "Call me Kayleb!" He instantly felt bad for the tone of his voice. So he softened a little. "I don't know how you wolves handle your stuff. But things are different where I come from. Especially for Omegas."

Even as he said those hopeful words, the boy didn't look up at him. His head was bowed, and his stance resembled that of a servant.

"Look at me, boy." His voice became firm and authoritative, as befitted of an Alpha like him.

It took a second before the boy did as he was told. As his small green-blue eyes met the lycan's round bright green, he saw anger in them. Immediately, he thought he had done something wrong and wanted to get on his knees to beg for forgiveness.

But Kayleb wouldn't let that happen. Seeing the movement, he grabbed the boy's arm and held him on his legs.

"After school, you wait by my car. I know you saw me get out of it. No matter who tells you otherwise, you will go there and wait for me, understood?" The boy nodded quickly, intimidated by this Alpha's voice and massive statue, although he was not afraid of him.

With the determined tone in the taller one's voice, the boy knew that any argument would be pointless. So he acknowledged his words and left the bathroom with all three other boys before him. As they re-entered the hallway, the bell rang loudly.

Looking back to where Kayleb assumed the younger boy would still be, he saw instead that he was already gone. Not even looking around made him find the boy again. A heavy sigh escaped his lips. Maybe he was too aggressive with him. After all, he looked like a frail boy.

"What are you going to do with him?"

The lycan had expected James to ask that question - after all, he was an Alpha as well - but was pleasantly surprised when it came in Tarik's deep, soothing voice. It took him a moment to realize that they were back in public, and as far as he knew, James didn't speak when more than his pack was around, and even then, rarely.
