Kayleb was bathed in darkness and disoriented. He's never sunk his claws into someone to get entry to their memories and never imagined it would be so strenuous. His head was pounding like a bitch.
He tried to pull himself together, fully aware that he didn't have endless time. Since it's his first time, and time outside of this place is still ticking.
He initially pushed himself back onto his feet from the lying position with all the strength he had in him, but he had to use even more energy to prod himself into the full standing position with his hands on his knees.
Even after he finally got back up, seeing was still not an option. He had never heard anything like that. Typically, an Alpha doing this will be thrown in that person's first or last memory. But all he could see was darkness.
As he walked around a little, he suddenly saw a small light in the distance that seemed very faint.
His steps quickened a little because the path was long, and he had no idea how long he would last there, but he needed concrete answers.
He ran fast, but before he knew it, the light reached him. It was the light coming from under a door frame. The door was colored green, and some animals were engraved on the frame. Many wolves were depicted, and even the transformation of people into werewolves was shown.
Kayleb thought it was pretty cute. He knocked softly on the door. It took a moment, but eventually, he heard a meek voice allowing him entry.
As soon as he turned the doorknob and opened the door just a crack, he chuckled at the cute interior of the room. Everything was green, and the resident was obviously obsessed with wolves.
"Who are you?" A small child's voice echoed through the far too large room. There were lots of small toys plastered on the floor. But the boy himself was sitting under his desk reading a book.
It took Kayleb a little longer to respond because he had to open the door fully to enter the room. He saw the little boy cowering under the desk and cautiously tried to walk further into the room, but the panicked look on the child's face made him stop short.
"It's okay, I-"
"Close the door!" The little boy begged. "Please! He gets angry when the door is open!"
Kayleb was completely confused but did it anyway. He even went the extra mile and made it as quiet as possible.
As he turned back to the child, he saw immediate relief washing over him. He even crawled out of his hiding place. No fear was to be seen, even though Kayleb was someone he didn't know.
Standing directly in front of each other, Kayleb crouched before the boy.
"You are so beautiful!" the boy suddenly said in awe.
The much taller boy blushed deeply. He has never been described as "beautiful" before. But it felt good to him.
However, the little boy wasn't finished yet. He reached out his hand to touch Kayleb's cheek. When his small, soft hand touched Kayleb's skin, he blushed again. Children were always interested in feeling his skin or hair, especially human children, once they realized he was not like them. But this felt different to him.
"You look like the boy in my dreams!"
The blush that had spread to his cheeks remained, but his face fell. Sadness pushed aside any emotions he might have had before.
"What did you dream?"
"We held hands like that -" The boy took Kayleb's much larger hand and jumped up excitedly - "and cuddled like my mother, and I do sometimes, but it felt different. You know?" There was neither a trace of malice in his words nor in his facial expression. He was really excited.
