It was a strangely warm autumn day. Kayleb was wandering through the forest near the school, holding his soulmate's hand. The wind wasn't strong that day, which made it incredibly warm.

He wanted to be alone with Dal but still be close to others so they could help stop him if needed.

He playfully pushed him every now and then, to which Dal responded with just as much enthusiasm. A mischievous glint glittered in both of her eyes.

At one point, Kayleb pushed his soulmate against a tree, knocking the air out of his lungs. Dal couldn't breathe as he saw Kayleb lick his lips lightly.

"Turn around," the lycan whispered.

Dal couldn't move for a moment, face red, but when he did, he turned around like his soulmate had asked. He wasn't sure why, but he still did it.

For a long time, nothing happened. Soon enough, though, he saw a shadow looming over him, blocking the light shining on the tree he was looking at. He didn't have the courage to look back despite hearing strange noises behind him. He wasn't afraid as he trusted Kayleb with his life.

But soon, he felt something cold and wet. A shiver ran down his body. Feeling a sniff picking up his scent almost made him jump.

Before he turned around, a tongue licked his neck. He turned completely around in utter shock. He was confronted with the same majestic animal he had seen behind Kayleb's house.

He knew it was his soulmate, even though this animal was bolder than Kayleb in his other form.

"Should I transform too?"

The massive animal before him nodded slowly. But it didn't expect Dal to take off the leather jacket Kayleb had given him on their first date, let it fall to the floor, and a second later, right in front of it, pull his shirt over his head.

Dal stood there with his bare upper body and even went as far as to pose a bit. But as his hands reached further down to his pants, Kayleb quickly turned around in his lycan form.

He could hear Dal chuckling darkly to himself. Inwardly, Kayleb cursed his animal side for giving their soulmate the moral high ground as they obviously stared at Dal's beautifully sculpted body.

But to his surprise, there was no exchange of words. Dal was transforming into his strange wolf form: more of a mix between wolf and lycan, clearly unable to decide what it wanted to be.

As cheeky as Dal was, he smacked Kayleb's ass with his snout. It was so strange to the lycan that he jumped away and hid his butt with a tree.

Kayleb's lycan side glared at their shared soulmate. Ready to pounce on him. But it didn't think its other form would like it, so it just growled at Dal. Until Kayleb actually told it to attack, not to hurt him, but to show him who's boss.

Within a second, the lycan suddenly lunged at the still-grinning wolf.

Dal's eyes widened. He didn't think his soulmate would actually attack him for his indecent action. Before he knew it, he was quickly knocked to the ground. He immediately tried to get up and run again, but Kayleb was already on his neck, teeth bared. All Dal could do was whine and hope his mate would take pity on him.

The lycan was not only much larger than the wolf beneath him. But also unimaginably stronger. It could most likely hunt any land creature.

Before Dal or Kayleb knew it, the lycan suddenly bit into the wolf with his sharp teeth, tearing the skin from his right shoulder to his heart and even the lower part of his ribcage.

Kayleb was horrified and could do nothing as he still had no control over his lycan side. He couldn't understand why it would deepen their soulbond when they hadn't even done anything but hold hands.
