I watch the ambulance drive away, until Nick taps me on the shoulder, seeking my attention.
"What's going on?' he asks me, following my line of view and i shrug.
"I don't want to talk about." i reply, looking back at the ambulance, until it goes out of site, the headlights disappearing into the darkness.
"Let's go then, the press is here?" he says, already turning to walk the other way.
I nod sigh and start following after him.
After everything stabilizers here, there is not much else left to do, except to go home, and come back tomorrow morning and start dealing with the fall out of this incident properly.
"We are just going to pass by the hospital and check on Rick Solice, before going home." I hear someone say and it snaps me out of my thoughts.
"Has someone already informed his family?" Nick asks.
"Yes, his wife was informed, she should be there now." Someone says.
"Well, we are going now, we will see you in the morning."
"I think we should pass through too and see how he's doing....what do you think?" I suggest to Nick.
He rubs his face in hesitation.
"Yeah...ok, fine....come on then, i'll drive." He offers after briefly thinking about it.
The drive to the hospital is silent, but comfortable, as we are both kept deeply in thought.
No doubt he is thinking about the damage that has occurred and how it will not only hurt the company's image, but also the company's finances at the moment.
We will have to change some on-site safety procedures, maybe carry out some more workshops on site safety and whatever else we can do to ensure that this never happens again...and it will cost time and resources that we didn't plan for, but we have no choice.
