I don't make a habit of chewing on my nails, but I suppose today is an acceptable exception. My mind is a cluster of thoughts, as I try to wrap my head around everything that's happened to me within the last couple of hours.

And now being here at the hospital, in an exam room, on a bed, this time as a patient, it's strange and uncomfortable, and I'm making all efforts to be under the radar.

I don't want anyone of my colleagues wondering around here where they can find me and start asking questions, or worse, start making assumptions and gossip about me, which is why Shala is still here, to warm or diverge any possible traffic away from me for the next few more minutes, I hope.

My eyes glance at the window for the hundredth time, as Patricia completes her tests on me, but my mind is drawn to the fact that Aaron will show up in here any second now...Thanks to Shala who called him earlier, when we made our way up here to Dr. Patricia's OB-GYN department.

"Alright honey, just try and relax now, I will be back soon with the rest of the results, ok?" she says, touching my shoulder.

"Raquel?" she murmurs, shaking me abit when I seem to have zoned out.

"Uhmm? yeah..Ok." I whisper absentmindedly, but then make eye contact with her to assure her that I'm listening, then watch as Shala exists the room when we see a couple of doctors walk bay in the corridor through the blinds on the window.

"Can I atleast put my clothes back on?" I ask looking around for them...I don't want to look like a patient.

"You know the drill...just stay put and try and relax, I will let the hospital know that you will be taking the rest of the day off." she says, as she turns around to leave again.

"A whole day?" I groan.

"I'm need to get back to work." I add.

"Raquel, what happened was pretty intense, especially for someone in your condition...and clearly, something else is going on with your body, so until we figure out what that is and get it under control, you will need to stay right where I can keep an eye on you...ok?"

"Fine." I say in resignation.

"Um, are you sure you don't want me to call anybody to come and be with you right now?" She asks softly for the third time since we have been here, and by 'anybody', I know she means Aaron, because of the sensitivity of my 'condition'.

"No..but thanks." I reply.

I already know he is on his way and will show up here any second now.

"Alright." she says, walking out of the door.

After she has left, I remain staring at the closed door as I think about the past few minutes, hour, or hours.

Last night, after I left Aaron, I went over to Shala's apartment to spend the night, and whilst there, we had a long discussion, and finally agreed to go down to the pharmacy for a pregnancy test kit at the building block next door to hers, so that we can find out once and for all if I'm pregnant, because I couldn't wonder anymore but unfortunately left the test kit I bought earlier at my apartment. However, after we returned, and I had taken the test, as we were waiting for the results, I changed my mind about seeing them and decided to wait later to do it with Aaron, however Shala saw them, but I made her promise not to tell me or even hint at the results.

Well, this morning just as we arrived at the hospital for work, there was an incident in the ER, when a patient who was recently brought in was refusing to be treated and ended up causing quite a bit of a fracas and just started acting out.

After physical altercation with the nurse and doctor, he rushed out of the exam room and ran right into me, causing us both to land unceremoniously on the floor, his blood spreading over on me.
