I look up, my fingers trying to keep the wind from blowing my hair into my eyes, as I focus on Aaron and Marco flying off.
He hasn't even gone out of my sight yet, but I already feel the emptiness from his absence set in, I do, and I can't keep my eyes from staring, as the helicopter gets smaller and smaller the farther it goes away from here, from me.
I feel an incredible attachment to Aaron, and perhaps abit sulky now that he is gone, my chest tightens and I feel anxious, forcing my hand to rest on my chest for comfort.
"C'mon honey..let's get you inside." Alessio utters, gently grabbing my elbow and turning me back in the direction of the house.
I nod and follow him.
As we start to walk back, I look back briefly.
He smiles.
"It's only a couple of days, don't worry, he will be back before you know it...now, let's see that ring, mmhhm?" he says, grabbing my attention.
I chuckle in embarrassment and extend my hand in front.
"Let me have a look at it." Yolanda says, as well as she walks on the other side of her husband, but she stops to look at my ring.
"Polished....it looks very new." Alessio says.
"I still can't believe she gave this to Aaron..it's a very important ring." Yolanda says.
"I can and I'm happy that Aaron got it and had the opportunity to give it to you........" Alessio says in response.
"It was one of my mother's treasured possessions....one of the first significant things my father ever gave her, she wore it like a badge of honor. From the moment he put it on her, she promised to never to take it off, and over the years he gave her many reasons to, but she kept her promise and never did, not once, not ever.....and perhaps, maybe there was luck in that, because my father made alot of mistakes but never once did he disrespect their union...that was the one thing that remained constant" Alessio says with pride.
The history makes my heart swell.
"Thank you for telling me that, I will cherish it forever." I say.
"I have no doubt that you will." He murmurs.
"And I will have you know that I am very grateful for what you share with Aaron...He deserves to be happy and loved truly and unconditionally.... I see that with you, he gets that in abundance, that makes this old man very happy and ready to die." He says and Yolanda swats his shoulder in annoyance at his death talks, even though he is only joking.
"Ohh Alesio! don't spoil my mood, it's far too early in the day for this type of ridiculous talk." she grumbles and starts walking, her annoyance evidence of thw love she feels for him and sadness at the thought of him not being around.
Yolanda is clearly a very tough woman who doesn't like to show weakness, but moments like this, or like last time when she went into a crying fit because she thought Aaron was leaving the house to live with me permanently, you get to see how soft and loving she really is.
