After watching the car disappear, i get back to the plane, and i slowly walk up the steps, inside, i notice that everyone else is already in their seats.
"Hey boss." Ashton murmurs, smiling up at me widely, as he takes his seat too.
"Ashton." I murmur reflecting his smile.
He is clearly excited to get to Miami, or perhaps he saw me with Raquel outside...he has been acting very funny with me ever since that first day she showed up at my office.
Plus, he is the one who has been making sure that there is someone to pick her up from work, the new developments in my love life genuinely exciting him.
I look past him towards two other passengers and greet them.
Then i walk towards my own seat, and Chase, who seems to have been seated for a while takes off his phones off.
He watches me seat with a smile.
I don't give him the satisfaction of asking him why he is smiling.
"Was that Raquel?" He asks rhetorically.
I smile in return, but don't reply.
"Uber drives at 3 o'clock in the morning....and a goofy smile on your face......careful there, looks to me like she's breaking through those walls." he says, singing the last part.
I turn my head to the side and look out the window, as i put on my seatbelt.
It's dark outside..and if it wasn't for this trip, I would still be in bed right now, with Raquel next to me.
The thought makes me close my eyes to relive some of the moments we shared only a few hours ago.
Like me, she has been through alot, with a past full of hurts and things rather not talked about, but she has come out of it strong and resilient, However traces of her dainty and fragile nature show during her vulnerable moments.
When she is in my arms, her skin against mine, her soft hands all over my body, i feel so alive and vibrant.
Over the past few months, years even, i have built walls around me, even without me realising it, i forgot what it was like to really care for someone, to be with them and have meaningful conversations, to be attracted to more than just their body.
Raquel for me is a force i didn't see coming, no amount of preparation or hindsight would i have ever prepared me for the effect she has on me.
She came without warning.
And it is all thanks to her silly bucket list.
