Our eyes meet and kind of just lock on each other.
The past few days just quickly play over in my head....our conversations every night, watching him speak on TV, what he said.
But the warmth of his gaze right now, it just makes me long for him to hold me.
Remembering where we are and with whom, i break eye contact, and glance at the man sitting behind the desk.
I feel cornered, and unsure of what to say or act.
"Dr. Bale..." i murmur, slowly moving further into the room.
"Dr. St Patrick..please, do sit down." He says, motioning with his hand.
Roman stands up as i approach and sit down, then he does the same afterwards.
"Do feel at ease, this is just a courtesy call." He says and i smile in relief.
I quickly glance up at Aaron, who continues to stand against the window.
"I understand you transferred here early this year from Vermont, how are you finding your work here at the hospital?" He asks.
"Uhmm, i'm adapting...." I say and Roman scoffs.
"That's putting it lightly." he murmurs, staring down at his phone before looking up.
I look up at Aaron again when he speaks.
"Are you just going to keep ignoring me like i'm not here?" Aaron asks, pushing himself off the window and walking towards me.
Roman scoffs again and i look at him.
"Don't worry about him, look at me." He says as if speaking to a child.
"Is that supposed to be cute?" Roman utters.
"Why are you still here?" Aaron asks him.
"Oh wow, used and disposed...after asking me to come here." He grumbles, and Dr. Bale chuckles.
He stands up, starts to walk to the door but stops.
" ....By the way, you didn't tell her about me? i'm deeply offended." he says, putting his hand on his chest.
Aaron replies with a witty standoffish remark that makes the Dr. laugh and Roman retort with his own response again, and i realise that this is probably just their usual brotherly bunter.
"See you around Firefly." Roman says at the door.
... Christian, can i speak to you for one second." Roman says more seriously, calling the Doctor by his first name.
