Change.

Today is the day when everything changed.

A day that I will never forget..a day that seemed to go on and on and on.... never ending.

Today, all my limits have been tested...my strength, my patience, my logic, my endurance and my composure.

I've felt concern when Raquel asked to visit the doctor earlier in the day......it turned to relief, then happiness when everything turned out fine, that didn't last, because panic set in when she went missing. Then I was overcome with fear, short-lived relief when we found her, and later, absolute terror.

I've felt like my whole world is splitting at the seams at an agonizingly slow rate...and there is nothing I could do to stop it, just watch.... watch as a storm blows over what I consider most dear to me.... wondering when it will come to an end, skeptical of what will be left standing once it's over.

Nothing has gone according to plan, and every time I think I finally have control of the situation, it slips right through my grasp.

What I want, it's very simple.

I just want things to go back to when it was all very simple.

Flashback

'I turn my head fully and notice a woman wearing a pale blue and pink mid-thigh dress, with a sweetheart neckline, and a faded blue denim jacket folded at the wrist walk in our direction.

She is a beautiful, and I bite my lip and furrow my brows thoughtfully, as I try to remember if I know her from somewhere, but before I can come to any kind of conclusion, she locks eyes with me as she nears our table, leaving no doubt that she is indeed coming here....and in that moment, everything and anyone else fades away, and it's just the two of us here.

I have a drink in my hand, and I quickly take a mouthful, before lowering the glass back down on the table, as we continue to maintain eye contact...my heart beginning to palpate in my chest.

The sound of her heels is an enthralling sound that keeps me trapped in a daze, in this little space where only two people exist, until she comes around to the back of my chair.

Curious, and perhaps even bursting with anticipation, I tilt my head slightly towards her, eager to hear what she wants to say to me, after all, it won't be the first time that a woman has approached me or made a move first.

But, instead of saying something, one of her hands comes down to my face, her fingers warm and gentle against my jaw.... calming.... and instantly, my heart slows to a comfortable rhythm.
