The problem with being imprinted with another person that was under his care was that he actually had to tell said person about the situation. Both because he was a doctor, and for the fact that he was not a total sociopath willing to fucking up another life just for his selfish desire of remaining not mated, even if now he basically was.

Brett's heat finished about a week later and he was exhausted. Since the boy's physical condition didn't permit him to be discharged anytime soon, they decided to let him rest for a while before dropping the bomb.

Eventually Eddy was able to explain the situation at his superiors and they all agreed in the fact that it was an accident. He had a disciplinary report, both him and Jane had, but it was not that serious since, in fact, the imprinting was something that didn't happened more than two or three times in a year on the entire planet.

And today was the day. The day he had to explain Brett the situation. Jane had decided to come with him in order to help answering the most technical questions but he was the one that had to explain Brett the situation.

Eddy: "Good afternoon, Brett, how are you feeling?"

He asked softly entering the room followed by Jane. The boy was laying on his back with his hands still hanged. His face was almost back to normal and apart from some little scratches you could tell his features right away: he was really good looking and in his own way he emanated the cuteness typical of an omega. His wounds on the torso were almost healed by now and he could do almost everything alone. Everything that his wrapped hands permitted. He still had some time to recover completely and the hands situation was surely the thing that would have taken the most time since he is a violinist.

Brett: "Alive, maybe..."

He joked as he saw the two doctors entering the room. He knew Eddy would have come since Jane had advised him about the fact that he had to make a sort of explanation.

Eddy took a chair and seated near one side of the bed while Jane decided to sit in the armchair in the corner of the room.

Brett: "Doctoress Becket told me you have to explain something, I hope it's nothing serious since I need these bad girls"

He asked hinting a nervous smile

Eddy: "Nah don't worry your hands are healing fine and I can surely say that you'll be able to use them again like before...the problem is another. Do you know about placebo effect?"

Brett: "The one in which you feel better just because you're told that you'll feel better eating a candy?"

Eddy: "More or less we could say something like this, yeah...how about I tell you that you've been under it without knowing it? Or better that you believed of taking some meds while you were taking vitamins?"

Brett: "What are you talking about?"

Eddy: "You're taking painkillers and antibiotics but you're not taking any suppressants, because there's one thing that is actually blocking your sensitivity to pheromones but that one is not the suppressant..."

Brett: "Is it my brain?"

Eddy: "Well let's say that it's controlled by your brain but it's not properly the brain itself...it's your omega system"

A giant frown took place on Brett's face

Brett: "You're saying that all the suppressants that I've taken during the years blocked my perception of pheromones? But I could smell yours..."

Eddy: "No your senses work fine the problem is that...you've been imprinted"

Brett: "Imprinted?"

Eddy: "Basically you had a strong reaction to pheromones highly compatible with your omega system, and I'm not talking about the first orange pheromone you've encountered but a specific type that can match with yours like no other, and that can accept yours like no other"
