A gas leak so we didn't have school for the day for both schools. I stayed in bed until my body couldn't take it anymore. Listening to music as I got up to take a shower and then see what Steve is doing. Pipi worked in the morning until the afternoon, so Steve and Pipi could trade shifts on who takes care of me. I laugh sometimes when both of them think one and the other think that I'm with them.
Steve was getting ready for work as I stare at me ceiling. Steve nocks as he enters my bedroom. "Okay sis so Pipi is going to be a little late coming home. So you can stay in the living room if you don't mind." Pipi hated climbing the stairs.
I grab a pillow and a blanket. "Alright." I'll just take a nap.
Pipi wasn't just an hour late he was five hours late. I don't know what he is working on. I woke up with my head on Billy's lap. Steve must had left the door unlock. Billy's fingers ran through my hair. "Billy?"
"Hey. I know I'm early to take you to the Byers but I didn't have the heart to wake you." He was acting all clam. Wait why? I thought he was pissed at me and was going to go be with Heather or Mrs. Wheeler.
Rubbing my eyes. "Right." Sitting up slowly. "Did you eat dinner?" Pipi wasn't home still.
"No."
I got up from the couch. "Want some pizza?"
"I'd love some." I order the pizza with whatever he wanted. "So what movie do you think he would want to see?"
"Probably something scary. Or cartoon." The ball is in his court on what he wants to watch.
"Is Joyce paying for his?"
"No. I am.hes been wanting to go to the movies for months with me." Billy smiled. "Why? You know you have to pay your way in." It was a little joke. That I thought was funny. But he didn't.
"That's fine. I was only asking."
"And I was only kidding." I saw a bruise on his bottom cheek bone. "I'd love to pay for you." My hand went to his other cheek. "Besides I like having two out of four favorite people coming with me."
Billy looks down with a little smile and a chuckle. "I'm one of your favorites? Cause last night it didn't seem like it."
"I was only looking out for Will."
"Not that part."
I sighed. "All my life I've disappointed people. Including myself. I didn't mean to hurt you. My dad said that's what I'm always going to do in life is disappointed people. The only people who I don't or at least I try not too. Is Pipi and Steve along with you. And I must have last night. That doesn't excuse what I said. I should had kept it to myself."
"People disappointed you first, when they should had been taking care of you." His smile brightens. "I'm one of the three? Dang." Patting himself on the back. "We should get into arguments more often."
"Oh haha." I rolled my eyes. "Yes you are. Out of most of the school you took your time on wanting to get to know me."
"Well isn't this a nice story of Beauty and the beast."
I pointed to Billy first. "Beauty." Then to me."Beast."
Billy closed his eyes as he chuckled. Such beautiful eyelashes. I would love to run my thumb across those gently. "I don't think so."
"And why you say that?" I flirted with him a little.
Billy blushed just a smidge. "My, are you flirting with me Mayflower?"
"Who me?" I shook my head. "I don't know how to flirt. Remember I'm the awkward one, who doesn't know how to do shit."
"I wouldn't say that." He leans over the counter. "And I think you do, but you are WAY to shy. I'll bring it out one way or another."
"I wouldn't bother." I walked out of the kitchen as Billy shoved me gently to the wall.
I could smell his mint breath, his clone that he wears. His soft smile that makes any girl melt. Billy's head was close to mine. "We're going to be okay aren't we?"
I wish I could promise him that over and over again. But I couldn't. For now I can at least say. "Yes." Who knows how long this will last.
