Took me about eight fucking months to write her a good as letter for her to take me back. The letter is good enough for me to finally take to her. I head to her window. I looked and her favorite stuff toy wasn't there. She never sleeps without it. Maybe she went somewhere for a whole week, with Steve or Pipi. I go back to their door and knocked on the door. Steve opens it.
"Is Tory home?"
"No." He looks like he's been crying.
"Do you know when she is coming back?"
" She's gone Billy?"
Gone? "What do you mean gone?"
"She left town and I have no idea when she is coming back." Steve crossed his arms.
She finally ran away to get out of this hell whole. I guess that is good, but not good enough. "Is she at a hotel?"
"Billy, please just leave her alone and let her be on her own two feet."
"What about all the panic attacks or seizures that she has?"
"She's been doing great on taking her meds. If she wasn't, I would not had let her go."
"Please tell me what hotel. Let me say my peace with her and I swear, I'll leave her alone."
Steve sighed. "At the Sativa hotel two hours away. Her bus doesn't leave until five am."
I thanked him as I left to my car. I drove fast so it will take half an hour as long if I don't get pulled over. Hang on Mayflower I'm coming. Even if it is my last night with her. She needs to know how much she means to me.
People always drive so slow when you are in a hurry. I finally get there. I entered the building yep Harrington was right. It was right next to the bus stop. The hotel was run down. "Can I help you?" Asked the clerk.
"Yes, I'm looking for a Tory Harrington."
He looked at the books. "No one here has checked in by that name."
I think of another name. "How about..." My nick name. "Mayflower Harrington."
He looked once more. "Ah yes. I need to call her to let you know that you are here." He was an old man.
"I was wondering if I could surprise her?"
"I see. 118 is her room." He points to the floor room.
"Thanks." I walked out of the building and walked outside looking for her room. There it was 118. I knocked, waited and I waited.
"Look Tory I know your in there. Please answer the door." I leaned in the door. "I'm not here to stop you from anything. I just want to talk." No movement. My head hits the door. "I'm sorry. I can't express how sorry that I am and can be. No excuse for my behavior. All I want to do and say is that I love you. If you want me to go away I'll go." I slid the letter under the door.
"Billy?" A woman's voice softly spoke. "How did you find me?"
My head turns towards this woman. It was Tory. Mayflower. I smiled. "Your not in there." My pointer finger touched the door.
Shaking her head no. "I went to get snacks. How did you find me?"
"Steve. Before you get mad, I twisted his arm." Not really. "I'm not going to stop you from leaving." Even though I want you too.
Mayflower smiled a little bit as she let me into her room. It was a twin bed a small table along with a small TV. She put the key down on the table along with the snacks. "So you drove two hours..." She chuckled at herself. "An hour an a half to come see me?"
"Yes. And I would had driven the world to see you one last time."
"Did you really mean what you said out in the hallway?"
"Every word." I picked up the paper as I held it out for her to take. "I do love you. And I know it will take a lot for you to forgive me. I can accept that. But I wanted you to that before you left, thinking that I didn't love you are care for you. Even when I treated you wrong." She takes the letter.
"Did you eat before you came her?"
"No ma'am."
"Want to grab something?"
"I'd like that." I smiled. Taking her room key we went across the street to a mom and pop restaurant. Nothing really fancy about it.
Sat down as we looked at the menu. "I'm not leaving because of you Billy."
I looked up. "Okay. But why leave?"
"Because, I can't stand being there and having people just look at me and give me pity or look at me like I'm a slut.i got tried of it and needed a change."
"You could had asked and I would have come with you."
"I could have. Billy you can do so much more with your life. This is your time to shine."
"I wouldn't want to shine if you aren't there."
"Billy." She kinda wined.
I mocked her so hard. "Mayflower." I winked with a little smile. "I know that I can move on in life. You are different to me."
"So if I asked you right now... Come run away with me. You would?"
"We had spoken about this before. You know I would."
"See. Would. I need to get out now. Not next week or next month."
"That's not what I meant. If you asked when you were planning this my answer would be yes. Hell even now would be a yes."
"What about your clothing?"
"Clothing came be easy to pick up. You? Not so much."
She leans over the table. "Will you run away with me?"
"Yes Mayflower."
