-some days later-
the experiments on eren had already started, and you were currently watching him as he lost control of his titan for yet another time. he was not responding to hange's requests so you jumped off your horse and went next to him. they came next to you and held eren, pulling him out of his titan.
"wait! stop! eren's bleeding!" you said, as you looked at him in worry.
you let out a scared yelp when you saw his face being completely messed up. hange was talking non-stop and you were seriously getting more worried by the second. you cut the flesh that fused eren with his titan, making both him and hange fall back.
you carried him to one of the carriages, hange and historia with you, too. you stared down at eren, worry evident on your face and voice as you spoke;
"eren!! hold on!!"
"he's... fine. i think. he'll be handsome as ever in no time! i think!" hange said, trying to reassure you, but even they were unsure.
you took eren to a room and laid him on a bed, before you started dressing him. you occasionally checked if his heart was beating, afraid the experiment had went too far. whenever you heard the soft beat against your ear, you were pulling away.
you were pressing a cloth of cold water on his face, watching it slowly go back to normal and you were checking his heartbeat. that's the two things you were doing once you brought him in the room.
"he's alive, y/n! no need to worry that much" mikasa said, as she saw you check his heartbeat for another time.
"i just want to make sure..."
"if he was dead, all this smoke wouldn't exist"
you watched the smoke travel away from his face and you sighed.
"you're right..."
"it's been a whole day, aren't you gonna eat anything?"
if you weren't resting your hands on his chest, you wouldn't have caught the small push of a breath. you looked at his chest and then at him, as he furrowed his eyebrows slightly.
"he's waking up!" you said, excitement written on your face.
mikasa left the room to inform everyone, and you stayed there watching eren waking up. once he opened his eyes, you smiled softly at him. he blinked slowly, trying to adjust to the dim light in the room.
"y/n?"
you smiled and pushed a strand of hair to the side of his face. you brought the wet cloth against his forehead, the cold water trickling down the sides of it.
