Chapter Twenty-Three.

    

     AFTER CATCHING Dustin's attention and being yelled at for about a minute or so, the group headed upstairs and waited just as they were told to do so. They all stood at the side of the bed, patiently waiting, then the light appeared before them. "You guys seeing this?" Dustin asked the five.

Nancy reached out, brightening the floating specks of light over her bed, making them all smile. "Holy shit!" Erica exclaimed followed by Dustin's laughter as Allison smiled widely. "We're not moving it, but we're gonna unplug it. Stand by." Dustin calls out to them, then the light before them faltered slightly.

"Okay, try it now."

"Okay. Um... uh..." Nancy reached out, writing HI with her finger. "That worked!" Dustin said as the five celebrated, "hi!" Eddie exclaimed at the light making Allison chuckle and glance at him. "Okay, um..." Nancy says as Robin was laughing, her hand to her chest. Nancy spelled out STUCK next as they watch.

"Stuck."

"Mm-hmm." Eddie nods aggressively, as Robin spoke, "yeah, we are," with her hands tightly crossed under her chin. "Uh, you can't get back through Watergate?" Dustin asked them. "What the hell's Watergate?" Steve looks at them. "Cause it's in water and it's a gate." Robin looks over at him. "Oh." Steve says.

"That's cute." Eddie says, his head slightly tilted. "Right. Um, no. It's..." Nancy struggles before writing out GUARDED into the light specks. "Watergate's guarded." Dustin says as Eddie claps his hands and Steve nods. "We think I have a theory that can help with that." Dustin exclaims back. "Genius child."

"We think Watergate isn't the only gate. That there's a gate at every murder site." He replied as Nancy looks away. "Does anybody understand what he's talking about?" She asked and Allison looks at her, confused as the others say no before Nancy spells out a question mark. "Okay. Seriously? How many times do I have to be right on the money before you just trust me?" Dustin exclaims as Allison sighs. "Jesus Christ, this kid's gotta get his ego in check." Steve says, shaking his head.

"It's his tone, right?"

"Nance, I'm confused how you guys didn't know what he was talking about? I mean, you said so yourself maybe Vecna is the same way as the Demogorgons leaving a portal after they attack, right? So... Patrick died at Lovers' Lake, and Chrissy died at Eddie's." She said, glancing at the boy who stared blankly at the lights. "Okay, yeah, fair." Nancy nods.

"So, how far is your trailer?" She now looks at Eddie who glanced at her. "Seven miles." He answered quickly. "Nancy?" Robin spoke up from the other side of Allison who looks at her quickly. "Uh, I know your house here is, like, weirdly, creepily frozen in time and shit, but haven't you always had bikes?" Robin asked so Allison looks at Nancy.

The girl looks away and then wrote out bikes into the light before they all got up and Dustin shouted that they'd meet them at Eddie's before the five left the bedroom, rushing off to the garage where they grabbed bikes and started heading to Eddie's quickly.

When they arrived to Eddie's trailer, they jumped off the bikes. "That's gotta be a Guiness World Record. Most miles traveled interdimensionally." Robin said as Allison walks over to Eddie who had his hands over his head, grabbing one that fell to his side. "Just inhaled a bunch of that crap. It's stuck in my throat." Steve said. Eddie opens the door for Allison who walks in first, followed by Eddie and the other three behind the pair.

They stand in a line now, looking at the portal. "Goddamn." Steve says. "This is where Chrissy died. Like, right where she died." Eddie said as Allison glanced at him. "I think there's something in there." Robin spoke up. "What the hell is that?" Eddie asked, trying to get a closer look to what was trying to break through. Then the portal broke right open.

They scream and back away, a stick flailing around in the entryway then went away. The five carefully approach the portal, only to find Dustin Henderson, Max Mayfield, Erica and Lucas Sinclair on the other side. "No way." Steve said as the five of them stood there, staring up and Dustin began laughing.

Allison chuckled softly, smiling widely at the four teens. "Hi there." Dustin waved. "Hi." Steve waves as the three women say hi back and Eddie is chuckling. "Holy shit, this is trippy." Robin said as Allison sighed. "Bada-bada-boom!" Dustin shouted out.

Erica and Dustin got to working on tying a bunch of sheets together as Lucas and Max went to go grab Eddie's mattress from his room. It didn't take long for Lucas and Max to return, setting down the mattress. Which is tainted with about four wet stains. "Those stains are, uh..." Eddie tried to explain then paused, looking to Allison and Robin to his side before looking back up.

"I don't know what those stains are." He sais as Robin made a disgruntled noise and Allison is grimacing up at the mattress. "Not quite sure how these physics work." Dustin brought over the makeshift rope of sheets. "But, uh..." He looks up. "Here goes nothing." He tossed it over so it lands right in front the five adults on the other side of their world.

They look at the rope landing on the ground then back up. "There we go. And if my theory is correct..." He says before letting go. Allison's jaw basically drops. "Abracadabra." He says before looking up. "Alright, pull on it! See if it holds!" Dustin shouted to them.

Robin does so, putting all her strength into it and it doesn't budge as Dustin laughs. Robin looks at the others before stepping up. "Guess I'm the guinea pig." She says before lifting herself up, grunting. Once she got half way through, she let go and landed on the mattress, before sitting up and smiling widely. "Oh, thank God. That was fun." She said and got Dustin's help in getting up so Allison went next.

Except halfway, she held on tight and looked back at Eddie. "I will never get caught dead on your mattress." She said then flipped over. "You should be so lucky!" He said and she looks up, giving a look so he sighed and looked at Nancy and Steve. "I--I'll go next." He merely muttered and went next, climbing through and landing on his mattress.

He sat up quickly, "that... was fun. Shit." He chuckles, holding out his hand which Allison took then helped him up. The two came face to face and Allison just smiled at him before glancing away, waiting for the next, most likely Nancy because Steve would probably insist going last after everyone.

But she never came. So they stepped closer to the portal just as they heard Steve shouting at Nancy to wake up. "Wake up! Nancy!" He shook her shoulders worriedly. "Vecna." Max says making Allison glance at the redhead before looking back up at Nancy and Steve. "Nancy, stay with me! Nancy!"
