Training With Kanao

"In the recent fight, I was poisoned and couldn't move. I used breathing to slow my blood circulation and the spread of the poison. A boy who tried to help me got killed... And after that, my memories returned. I was so angry that I couldn't control my emotions. I think my heart rate was more than 200 beats per minute. And my whole body felt hot like it was burning." Mitsuri looked at him as if she remembered. Muichiro also stated, "And I temperature was over thirty-nine degrees Celsius." Shinobu was shocked at the words and asked, "You could move in such a state? That could have been deadly!" Muichiro says, "You're right. It was like being put through a sieve. Survival... is what separates those who manifest the mark from those who don't." Amane says, "A heart rate over two hundred beats per minute... What makes you think your temperature was thirty-nine degrees?" Muichiro answered, "Well... Once when I was sick at Kocho's mansion... I had a fever and... the thermometer said my temperature was thirty-nine. I felt the same way when the mark appeared." Mitsuri thought, "I didn't know..." Sanemi says, "Tsk. Can it really be that simple?" Giyu offends Sanemi by saying, "I envy your simple mind for thinking that is 'simple'." Sanemi looks at Giyu and asks, "What?!" Giyu said, "Nothing." Kyojuro said, "If the mark is that important, then it's important that all the Hashira were to manifest it." Gyomei agreed, "Agreed. I will achieve it somehow. Please tell our master to rest assured." Amane slightly bows and said, "Thank you. However, there is one thing I must tell you regarding training for manifesting your mark." Mitsuri tilts her head to the side while asking, "What is it?" Amane continues, "For those who have already manifested the mark, it is too late... Those who do manifest the mark... Without exception at all-"

- Small Time Skip -
Gyomei said, "I see...!" Sanemi cursed, "But in that case... What about me? damn it!" Giyu stood up while saying, "Since Amane-sama has left, I'll excuse myself." Sanemi said, "Hey, wait! Don't be rude! We have to decide what we're going to do." Giyu says, "The six of you should talk. I'm not involved." Obanai took that as an insult and asks, "What do you mean you're not involved? You don't take being a Hashira seriously enough! Or do you just want to skip the meeting... And start your own training?" Giyu didn't say a word but kept walking. Sanemi yelled, "Wait, you!" Shinobu says, "Explain yourself, Tomioka-san. As usual, you say too little." Giyu then said, "I'm different from you guys. " Sanemi got way too offended and said, "I'm not buying that! You said the same thing once before, Tomioka. Do you look down on us?" Sanemi stood up and approaches Giyu. Mitsuri says, "D-Don't fight! Stay calm..." Sanemi yells, "Stay where you are!" Mitsuri screams, "Gyah! No! Don't!" Gyomei claps his hands causing all the Hashira to go silent. Gyomei says, "Sit. Let us continue talking. I have a proposal."

- Back With Tanjiro, Zenitsu and Inosuke's Training Match -
Tanjiro hops over Inosuke, who was breathing heavily. Tanjiro nearly struck Inosuke's back but was stopped by Zenitsu. Tanjiro ducked under Zenitsu's training sword and pushes himself backwards. Zenitsu and Inosuke were breathing heavily while Tanjiro barely broke a sweat. Tanjiro asks, "Do you guys want to see real power?" Inosuke screams, "Huh? What are you saying, Manjiro?" Tanjiro asks, "Do you remember what happened at the Entertainment District? When there was all that yellow light?" Zenitsu dug deep into his mind and asked, "Yeah I remember. Was it you who did that?" Tanjiro says, "Yup. Now watch this!" He slouches a bit and begins to go from a groan to a yell. Zenitsu watched in fear as some rocks started to float and Inosuke watched in excitement. Kanao also watches in amazement. Tanjiro's eyes begin to turn a green hue with his hair spiking up slightly. His hair turned yellow with rocks being launched and dust flying from his location. Tanjiro asks, "What do you think? Pretty neat, huh?" Inosuke asks, "How do you do that? Huh? Show me!" Tanjiro says, "I'll show you, but I don't think you are what I am. But I have no idea what to name this technique." Zenitsu asks, "What are you talking about? What you are... What does that mean?" Tanjiro says, "You wouldn't believe me if I said this but I'm what's called a 'Saiyan'. If I used the technique against you two, you both wouldn't even stand a chance. This technique, not only does it make me stronger, but makes me faster and more durable. Talk about cool, right?" Inosuke demanded, "If you say that form is as strong as you say it is, then fight us!" Zenitsu yells, "Wait, Inosuke! I don't think he's kidding! Look at him, his muscles got bigger!" Inosuke yells, "Just fight us, damn it!" Tanjiro says, "Zenitsu, you game?" Zenitsu hesitantly nods and gets into a ready position. Inosuke says, "All right if you say that technique is strong, then I want you to beat us without holding back, got it?!" Tanjiro says, "Okay!" Tanjiro then thought, "I'm still gonna hold back." Zenitsu heard his thoughts and thought, "Uh oh." Tanjiro says, "All right! Here I come!" Tanjiro lunges at a speed not even Zenitsu could comprehend. Tanjiro appeared behind the two and tapped their backs. Inosuke and Zenitsu got chills at Tanjiro's speed. Kanao could only watch in absolute amazement. Tanjiro then powers down and asks, "What about you Tsuyuri-san, wanna join their team?" Kanao asks, "Umm... Is it... Okay if we have a one-on-one training match?" Tanjiro was confused and was about to say something before Zenitsu took that perfect moment and yelled, "Yes! Please! Just let us rest!" Inosuke didn't know what to say so he went, "Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..." Zenitsu immediately grabbed Inosuke and dragged him along while yelling, "Me and Inosuke are gonna rest for now! Have fun you too, hehe!" Tanjiro said, "Wow, okay? Well, I guess it's just me and you then Tsuyuri-san." Kanao really looked forward to having a training match with him for a very, very long time. Kanao also planned to go all out. Tanjiro also planned to hold back, well because he had to. Tanjiro told Kanao to get into position and picked up a rock. He said, "Once this rock hits the ground that's when our match starts, all right?" Kanao nods as Tanjiro throws the rock into the air. Kanao sweated a bit before hearing the rock strike the ground. Kanao rushed at Tanjiro who stood still waiting for her move. Tanjiro lights his arm to block the T-sword (Training sword) Kanao tried to hit him with. Tanjiro then threw a slash at Kanao, who barely dodges the move and retaliates by almost kicking him. Tanjiro said, "I guess you can use physical attacks like kicking, I'm pretty sure I'll be able to withstand it. And on the plus side, it'll allow me to move more." Kanao asks, "Are you sure? What if you get hurt by me?" Tanjiro answered, "Haha! Don't worry, I'm sure I'll be fine." Kanao then kicked almost kicked his chest. He didn't know how to parry the blow so he blocked the attack with his arms. He then complimented her, "Wow, Tsuyuri-san! That was some kick. If I hadn't blocked that, it probably would've hurt." Kanao could only get flustered at his acknowledgement of her strength. Tanjiro then throws a strike a Kanao who blocked the T-sword with hers and twists her body to gain more force from her sword. Tanjiro then remembered about the sword that was going to be delivered in about an hour or so. He thought, "This match won't take that long anyway." Kanao hops into the air and uses her sword to strike Tanjiro. Tanjiro blocked it and asks, "When was the last time we fought? Was it when we were on Mount Natagumo? I think that's when you tried to kill Nezuko. Haha!" Kanao then tried to kick his face but was met by his hand catching it. Kanao didn't know Tanjiro would be this talkative during a fight. She thought, "Is he always this talkative during a fight?" Tanjiro then says, "I'm going to gradually get stronger as the fight continues. I'm going to say how strong you truly are, all right?" Kanao says, "O-Okay." Tanjiro begins to go at 40% of his power while Kanao continues to hold out quite well. He then went to 50% and noticed that's when she started to lag behind a bit (Together, Zenitsu and Inosuke were able to keep up with Tanjiro when he's at 70% of his power). Tanjiro thought, "50% is where she stands at. Both Zenitsu and Inosuke can keep me at 70%. Man, they still have a long way to go. I'll just train with them nonstop until one of us here a mission." Kanao, with a bit of panting, asked, "Are you at full strength yet?" Tanjiro says, "Nope. You still have a long way to go to catch up to me." She then asks, "How strong are you when you use that yellow-haired technique?" Tanjiro says, "Hmm? Oh, that. Well, I can't say for sure but I know I get way stronger. But I went toe-to-toe with Upper-Rank 3 that one time. He almost killed me because I didn't have this technique learned yet." Kanao thought, "He really made it that far?" Tanjiro asked, "Do you want to continue training or do you want to stop? I mean I'm game if we continue this." Kanao said, "I'm ready to keep going." Tanjiro says with a smile, "perfect! Though I'll barely gain anything out of these training matches, I'll be more than happy to train with you three anytime!" Tanjiro gets into a position and says, "Go!" He hops into the air and drops, almost striking Kanao. Kanao jumps to the side and nearly strikes his arm with her T-sword. Tanjiro hops and flips into the air many times trying to catch Kanao off guard. He began to notice something about her eyes. He thought, "Something seems off about her eyes." He then asks her, "Tsuyuri-san. I have a question. How strong are your eyes?" Kanao says, "I'd say they're pretty strong. Flower Breathing enhances the user's eyesight. I learned it from my deceased sister, who died fighting Upper Moon 2." Tanjiro says, "I see... I'm sorry." Kanao says, "You don't need to apologize Tanjiro." He then tested her eyesight by flying past her at high speeds. She was barely able to keep up with him. Tanjiro stopped but was almost struck by Kanao. He responded by moving so quickly, that it created an afterimage of himself (A/N: not Fake Rainbow btw). He then appeared behind and taps her back with the sword. She says, "Not fair! You moved so fast it created an image of you!" Tanjiro laughs and says, "Well, I'm sorry about that." Kanao pouts but expected him to say something. He had his head tilted and was confused. He didn't know how to respond. He then looked around and saw Zenitsu and Inosuke spying on them. He thought, "Strange. I know Zenitsu spies but I didn't know Inosuke all spies." He then waved at the two, who immediately ran away. Tanjiro looked at Kanao who was staring at him. A few seconds passed before Tanjiro asked, "Is there something wrong, Tsuyuri-san?" Kanao said, "Nothing's wrong, Tanjiro..." Tanjiro heard her heartbeat getting faster (A/N: Saiyans have an advanced hearing). He thought, "What's she doing making her heart beat faster?" Alas, Tanjiro was dense as always. He didn't know the feelings of love toward another person other than his family. Kanao got too close to Tanjiro, much to Tanjiro's dismay. Tanjiro responds by backing up but was followed by Kanao. Tanjiro backed into a wall and asks, "What are you doing, Tsuyuri-san?" Kanao said, "Tanjiro... I want to tell you something." Tanjiro says, "Shoot, I'm all ears." Kanao kind of laughed but said, "Ever since you first came to the Butterfly Estate, I couldn't help but hide my feelings for you. When I first saw you, I saw you as someone I wanted to hurt because I was told to. But I apologize since I was just following orders. The second time, I took notice of your strength and how attractive you looked. When I saw you when you came back from taking on Upper Moon 3 (referring to the Infinite Train Arc), I was building up my courage to talk to you so many times. All I want to say is... I really, really like you Tanjiro." Tanjiro was oblivious to the feelings of love. So be asked, "This is embarrassing to ask, but what does that mean? Like you like me as a friend?" Kanao was baffled. She thought Tanjiro knew the feelings of love and realized why he never reciprocated his feelings toward her or any of the other female slayers that caught his eye. She began to get into a deep explanation while Tanjiro says, "I see..." Kanao was eager for his answer. Tanjiro didn't want to feel bad but at the same time, he couldn't just straight up say no. Tanjiro's mind was completely blank. He then told her, "I know the wait might kill you, but wait until we defeat Muzan, then I'll give you my honest answer."

Chapter 108: End.

Yes. My first ever (longest) chapter running solely on my brain. It took such a excruciatingly long time to write this chapter. Initially, I was gonna have Tanjiro accept her confession and have them date (this was a stretch so I thought of another idea), but I then had him try to friend zone her (I didn't want this). So I just thought of this and stuck with it because it seems like a Tanjiro-Esque answer (to me anyway). And if you noticed, in this chapter Kanao went slightly (or a lot) out of character. This chapter might seem a little cringe toward the end but eh.

- A Little Secret -
Tanjiro's mind never ever ran like that before. That was the first time he was nervous and frustrated in a long time.
