Part 40

A few hours had passed, Akane woke up to hearing screaming in the kitchen. She turned to the side and realised that Daichi was no longer in bed. She got up and decided go into the kitchen to what was going on.

"GIVE ME BACK MY GRANOLA BAR SHOUKO DAIKI!" Akiteru shouted at Shouko as they ran around the couch like a bunch of 5 year olds.

Daichi on the other hand was trying to calm them down, he was holding another granola bar.

"Just take the other one."

"NO I WANT THE CHOCOLATE BAR!"

"I can buy more later! Just stop running around, someone's gonna hurt themselves!"

"Ahem." Akane cleared her throat.

Akiteru and Shouko stopped running and looked at Akane terrified. It was as if she was a demon that came from the underworld, with a mission to drag them down with her. Her intimidated stare send shivers down their spines, except for Daichi, of course.

"Good morning Honey." Daichi greeted, breaking the silence.

"Good morning, darling." Akane replied.

Akiteru and Shouko both sat down on the couch quietly, not wanting to make eye contact with Akane. Akane sighed and walked towards the kitchen. She threw on her apron, and started taking out some ingredients to make breakfast. Daichi sat on the high stool, admiring Akane as she worked when suddenly the door bell rang. Shouko immediately got up, signalling that he would open the door. He took a bite of the granola bar and opened the door.

"AKAN- oh.. You're not Akane-" Someone yelped.

"Luna.. There's no way Akane moved houses and not gave us her address, right!?"

"Oh.. No, this is Akane's house, she's inside." Shouko said, gulping down the last of his granola bar.

Suddenly, Akane peeked from behind Shouko.

"Oh hey guys! What are you doing here? So early in the morning."

"Oh Hey Akane! We were on our way to the local gymnasium in the prefecture and wanted to invite you to join us. We are playing volleyball against our seniors! We saw them yesterday, and they challenge us to a friendly match." Luna explained.

Akane's eyes lit up, she immediately nodded in agreement," Uh.. I'll go after I've freshen up and finish making breakfast. Wanna have some? " Akane offered, smiling wide.

Karin and Luna agreed and came into the house.

"Hey Daichi!" Karin and Luna greeted in unison.

"Oh my god, is that AKITERU??" Luna squealed.

"Oh hey girls! Haven't seen you girls in forever. Its been a while hasn't it?" Akiteru jumped from the sofa, giving them a side hug.

"Darling, can you help me finish up breakfast? I need to freshen up." Akane asked, taking off her apron and putting it over Daichi.

"Of course I can honey." He replied, kissing her cheek before walking to the kitchen.

Akane smiled softly before heading off to the bathroom. After a while, Akane walks into the living room feeling refreshed. Her hair up in a ponytail with strands of her shaping her beautiful face. She sniffed the aroma and a smile appeared on her face.

"Hmm smells good, i smell syrup and chocolate!" Akane exclaimed.

Daichi chuckle, gesturing her to come and join them. As she walked over, he pushed the seat beside him so she could sit. He placed 2 stacks of chocolate chip pancake on her plate, smothering it with some butter and pouring syrup on it.

Licking her lips, Akane thanked everyone before she started to dig into the delicious breakfast. As she was stuffing her mouth, she suddenly felt someone step on her feet, she jumped up and her knee hit the table, making the table shake vigorously. Akane started to groan in pain as she held her knee tightly.

"ow ow ow ow!"  She yelped.

"Im so sorry Akane! I accidentally stepped on ur your foot, is your foot and knee alright!?" Shouko apologised, looking worried.

Akane nodded, everyone giving her the worried look at she rested her head on Daichi's shoulder, still in pain. Daichi patted her head and started to massage her knee in hopes of easing the pain. Soon enough she let out a sigh of relief.

"hm.. Better now love?" Daichi asked, worried.

"Mhm, thankyou." Akane replied.

"I'm sorry again Akane.. I didn't mean to.." Shouko apologised again.

"Don't worry big bro Shouko, it's okay now." She smiled. She placed her hand on his shoulder as a sign of reassurance before moving to the kitchen and clearing the dishes.

Shouko sighed.

"Btw, does everyone want to go to the local gymnasium to watch the friendly match? Im sure it would be fun." Luna suggested.

Everyone agreed in unison. Akiteru was overly eager due to the fact that he had only seen his sister play in middle school. Everyone packed up their stuff and made their way to the gym. As they were walking, Akane slipped her arm through Daichi's. Daichi still gets flustered whenever Akane does that out of the blue or when she purposely walks close towards him. Akane knew that it still made him flustered. As they had finally reached the gymnasium, they heard shoes squeaking and the sound of the volleyballs hitting the ground. Suddenly the doors flung open as Akane was about to open the door. Her eyes met with a pair of beautiful olive green eyes. Strands of silky brown hair cover parts of their face.

"Is that you, Hayate-chan?" They asked.

"Miya-senpai..!" Akane, Luna and Karin squealed excitedly. Daichi's eyes widened as well.

Miya hugged Akane, Luna and Karin. Giving them a tight embrace before letting them go. She turned to face Daichi and smirked, she ruffled his fluffy, short brown hair.

"So, you and Akane are finally a thing, huh? Took you idiots long enough." She snickered.

Akane's face turned red while Daichi was chuckling nervously, rubbing the back of his neck.

"Miya-senpai, this is Akiteru, my big brother. And this is Shouko, his best friend." Akane introduced.

Miya greeted them before leading them into the gymnasium. They walked passed the multiple occupied courts before finally reach the other side of the gymnasium where a group of girls was hanging around. Some was wearing volleyball jerseys and shorts with knee guards, while the others wore a shirt with shorts. Akane, Luna and Karin was able to recognise some of them but some was unfamiliar faces they've never seen before. They greeted each other with a wide smile.

"Oh my god its our Ryu High Prodigies! Oh how I've missed you three." Miriko said. Miriko was the former captain of Ryu High girl's volleyball team. Miya on the other hand was their former vice-captain.

Miriko greeted Daichi, Akiteru and Shouko as well. After the short introductory, the girls started their friendly match with Shouko being their referee.
