After school, you, Jim and Toby had went to Trollmarket together. You three and AAARRRGGHH were listening to Blinky telling the story about trolls. He told the story about how the Trollmarket trolls came to New Jersey, but continued to walk until they found The Heartstone in Arcadia Oaks and settled there. "..and we realized we had found a new home, under Arcadia," he finished. He looked up from his history book and groaned as he saw Jim sleeping while you, Toby and AAARRRGGHH were all listening. Even though you and AAARRRGGHH knew the story almost by heart, it was just as exciting each time.
Blinky walked over to Jim and held the historybook really close to Jim's face before he closed it what a loud slam. "¡Lo siento, Señor Draal! ¡No me mates!" Jim cried as he woke up from what you guessed was a bad dream. "The training of troll history might seem like a minor duty, master Jim, but-" Blinky said. "Sorry, I pulled an all-nighter studying for my Spanish Comprehension exam and my brain is muy gooey," Jim explained as he held up his Spanish books. Blinky gave him a judging look. "I don't know. I guess I thought that if I'm facing Draal in a week, my training would be a little more.. active," he said as he got up and gasped.
"Yeah, like, when is it he's going to learn Troll-kwondo? Or Rock-itsu?" Toby asked as he put his arm around Jim's shoulders. "Before one fights, Toby D, one must understand why one fights. For these precious early steps will decide wheter a young trollhunter will become a Deya the Deliverer..." he said as he gestured dramatically to a statue of Deya. "Or Unkar the Unfortunate," AAARRRGGHH finished and gestured to the statue of Unkar.
"Well, tomorrow, my Spanish exam is with Señor Uhl the Unforgiving. My main concern is for my immediate future," Jim told. "A-ha! But, to learn about what will happen in the future, one must only look to the past," Blinky lectured as he dropped the heavy history book into Jim's hands. "I recommend A Breif Recapitulation of Troll Lore by venerable Behilde. Volume one of 47," Blinky said. "Okay, but if I don't pass the exam, I'm grounded and I can't be the Trollhunter. Sorry. Blinky, but the Amulet chose me, and now I have two lives to keep up," he said as he backed away. Suddenly, Bagdwella appeared, running into The Forge. She was panting and gasping for air as she stopped by Blinky.
"Oh no, is it the Heartstone?" Blinky asked concerned. "No! No!" Bagdwella answered. "Stalkling?" asked AAARRRGGHH. "Is Bular in Trollmarket?" Jim asked. "No! Gnome! Rogue gnome!" Bagdwella yelled in distress and her voice echoed through The Forge.
"First, I couldn't find my monocle, then my collection of bed coils. Now something disappears every minute!" Bagdwella frantically explained as she walked around in her shop. Suddenly, she fell over and laughing was heard and a couple of gnomes ran past Blinky and took a couple of rounds around your legs before running off. "Ah, yes. Gnomes," Blinky confirmed as he reached Bagdwella his left arms to help her up. "Oh, dirty little pests," she complained as after she hit Blinky's hand away and got up herself. "Up to last week, the glue traps were working fine," she told as she reached for something in a bag and pulled up the skeleton of a gnome, which was quickly retrived by the rouge gnome.
"Fix it, Trollhunter!" she begged Jim before giving him the most charming smile she could. "Uh, yeah, I'm really sorry about that. See, you need a gnome-catcher, and I'm, well, the Trollhunter so-" Jim started to explain. "Oh no, master Jim. The Trollhunter cannot refuse a call," Blinky cut him off. "And what a better call for you to train with than a pint-sized quarry?" Blinky said optimistically. Then, rapid footsteps and guitar playing was heard. "Good luck with that, champ," you said.
The gnome started running around, stealing valueables. Toby's belt and Nougat Nummy was taken from him, which made him determined to catch that gnome. It ran around and everyone tried to catch it. Jim once caught him, but he wiggled loose and ran off. Lastly, he snatched Jim's amulet and ran off behind a wooden closet and into the wall.
AAARRRGGHH moved the closer with ease and revealed a hole in the wall that could only be the lair of the gnome. "Hole," AAARRRGGHH observed. "Yes, it appears that the plot, quite literally deepens," Blinky told. Jim put both his arms into the hole that echoed with the laughter of the gnome. "Come back, come back," he tried to summon the Amulet. "Shouldn't the Amulet be coming back to me right about now?" he asked. "Dolefully, that rule only applies if you've rejected it. When thieved, it's another story," Blinky explained. "That's a bummer," Toby said. "If you had read the book I gave you earlier, you would have known," Blinky said. "Some Trollhunter you are!" Bagdwella mocked. "Oh shush. You're the reason we're here," you muttered and Bagdwella gave you an ugly look. "Respectfully," you added. "Jim the Babyhanded," mumbled Bagdwella and you rolled your eyes at her.
"What can I do? I can't fit in that hole," said Jim. Toby snickering. "Currently," Blinky thought out loud. "Bad idea," said AAARRRGGHH. "Wait, you're not gonna?-" you asked. "No Trollhunter has ever lost his amulet. We'll need to procure the Furgolator," Blinky insisted. "Uh, the Furgulator?" Jim asked. "Don't you worry, master Jim. Tend to your studies. We'll watch over the hole," Blinky assured, making Toby snicker again. "What's so funny?" you asked, thuroghly confused. "Tomorrow, you'll return refreshed to deal with this, uh.. little problem," Blinky said.
