Stolas held his mother's hand as they followed his father into the hall. It was another large Goetia gathering. Everyone was there and casually chatting. Some of them were talking about the Goetic hierarchy while others were debating various topics. Stolas didn't like the atmosphere. It was restrictive and suffocating. But he had to be there. His father Paimon went ahead to discuss something very important with another one of the kings. Stolas clung to his mother. She smiled and held him close. After a while, his father returned. Another family with a son and daughter accompanied him. It wasn't long before Stolas realized why he was there. Paimon and his mother introduced him to the other family's daughter. Her name was Stella. Stolas immediately knew that he didn't like her. The look in her eyes scared him. Then his mother announced something genuinely terrifying. He and Stella were going to be married one day.
A month later, Paimon and his good friend arranged a play date for Stolas and Stella. It was their attempt to get them closer. They were let loose to play. Once the fathers left them alone, the trouble started. Stella wasn't thrilled with the idea of marrying him either. However, she was much more vocal about it. She stood up for herself, unlike him. Stella started picking on him. Her brother, Andrealphus, who only now introduced himself, laughed along. Stolas had never been one to put his talon down and speak up. He had always been quiet and obedient. After a few minutes, he ran to his father and told him. Rather than listen, Paimon reprimanded his son for accusing his future wife of being so mean. There was no reasoning with him. Stolas hung his head in defeat as his father apologized to his friend and promised to punish him later. It was always like this.
However, this wasn't over. A new voice made itself known. It was an Imp. He was around the same age as Stolas, Stella, and Andrealphus. His name was Blitzo, and he was learning how to serve a Goetia family. Right now, he was serving Stella and Andrealphus. He had seen everything and vouched for Stolas. Everyone was stunned. Blitzo came forward with a camera. He had recorded it all and showed the kings. In the video, Stella was kicking Stolas, curled up into a ball, and yelling insults at him.
The silence that followed was intense. After what seemed to be forever, Paimon turned to Stolas. For the first time, someone had stood against him. And that someone had been an Imp no less. Had it not been for the definite proof, Paimon would have banished him for not knowing his place and butting in. His friend stood up and excused himself to talk with his son and daughter. Stolas stood there, looking his father in the eye. For once, he had won. This gave him a burst of confidence. Without a word, he excused himself and left the sunroom. Blitzo dismissed himself and followed the young prince. He had said his piece.
From that day on, they were friends. Stolas requested the Blitzo be his personal servant, and it was done. Paimon bought him from his friend and ordered a room to be made for him in the servants' wing of the castle. The two boys played together and went exploring when Paimon wasn't present. Stolas could talk about anything with his first real friend. He told him everything. While Blitzo did have some criticisms, he listened. He had ambitions and aimed to be someone one day. And one thing he knew was that he had to network with the right demons. But for now, Stolas and Blitzo played together when left alone. They went exploring around the castle and pulled plenty of pranks. Stolas had never had a real friend. He had played with the other Goetia children, but he knew his father had set those playdates up to introduce him to potential allies when he was older. But now, he had someone he could talk to for the first time.
