The Future of News Part 4: Jimmy Trench

Katie and Tom finally had a son. They named him Jimmy and brought him home after a week at the hospital. He grew up loving television and started studying the news industry when he was ten. Jimmy underwent radio broadcast training under Alastor in his teen years. He occasionally went on air when it was a slow day. The Radio Demon didn't often enjoy the accompany of others. But Jimmy's interests were in the same sphere. And he wasn't overly extroverted. The two would talk in the radio tower.

Jimmy was more adventurous than his big sisters. He took up field reporting for 666 News when he hit 21 years of age. He retrofitted the main news van with new tech and upgraded what he could. It was pretty impressive. And it paid for itself. But Jimmy wasn't done. He wasn't content with staying in the Pride Ring. He ventured to the other rings of Hell to collect stories for the station. What he brought back never ceased to surprise audiences. Many demons had no idea what was happening in Hell outside their ring. But thanks to Jimmy, everyone was now much more informed on the happenings of Hell.

During his time reporting, Jimmy had a knack for digging up juicy rumors and gossip. He usually kept these to himself, unlike his mother, unless something serious warranted an investigation. Eventually, this led to investigative journalism. And he didn't just uncover demonic secrets. With a little scheming, Jimmy also got some juice from the living world. By now, he was as successful as his big sisters. And it was time to go bigger. One night he proposed having his own show on 666 News focused on investigative journalism. Katie was all for it, mainly for the spicy news, and immediately agreed. Tom, however, was a bit hesitant. He knew Jimmy could handle himself. But he was still a worried father. Nonetheless, he also agreed after some thought. Jimmy was thrilled and began planning the following day.

The new show took off with high ratings. Jimmy already had his own audience from scattered appearances on 666 News. Now he has his own place on the network. He fleshed out previous stories and added more details to kick things off. All this time, he had only been on the air for half an hour on random days. Now he had a two-hour block all to himself every weekend. And he loved it. With a new show came a new look. Jimmy tossed his pink look into the back of the closet and dyed his hair crimson red. He also got a new gas mask. This suited him so much better. His show gained traction, and 666 News grew more popular. Across the seven circles of Hell, demons tuned in to watch his program nearly every weekend. Jimmy's ratings quickly blew the roof off the studio. Any demon who was anybody knew him and knew his show.

With all the grand success, a little vacation or two was in order. Jimmy ventured to the Lust Ring for a break. There, he finally met someone. They got talking and moved quickly. Her name was Trix, and she was a cocktail waitress at a high-end bar. She was also a big fan of his show. Jimmy and Trix moved fast. His vacations were only a week. But they ended up sleeping together many times at his hotel during his short stay. She followed him back home to the Pride Ring. Because, to be honest, she hated the Lust Ring and had been gotten desperate for a way to leave. And hooking up with a famous, hot investigator? Perfect. Jimmy introduced Trix to the family, intending to have a long relationship. They had already decided to move in together, which wasn't a problem since Jimmy already had his own place.

Trix quickly became Jimmy's right-hand lady. She researched, snuck around, went undercover, and helped dig up elusive clues. They made a great team, and she fell for him more. When they weren't working, they were enjoying themselves at some café or driving around Pentagram City. To not attract too much attention, they usually wore some disguise. Now Jimmy had it all. And he was going to make it last.
