Balancing the duties of being a king with the responsibilities of being a father was no easy task. Lucifer and Stolas knew this better than anyone. They barely had time for their family. Sometimes it seemed like they didn't even have a wife or beautiful daughter. And despite being in the same position, Lucifer and Stolas had different approaches to fatherhood.

Lucifer was stricter with intentions to ensure Charlie was fit to rule Hell when his reign ended. He was pretty uptight and showed little affection. Hell couldn't have a soft and weak ruler. Lucifer couldn't afford to have Charlie grow into an oblivious and naive queen. She needed to be strong. Hell needed a powerful ruler to keep things in order. A ruler didn't have to worry about their own life. There was much more at stake for them. Charlie had to be ready for anything. She had to be prepared to handle everything.

As for Stolas, he was more present in his daughter's life. There were many troubles, but he still made time for Octavia. He learned about her hobbies and learned a little so he could relate to her. He took her shopping and out for long drives. On rare instances when he had a full day or two of freedom, they ventured to the other rings. Stolas knew he wasn't the best father, even by Hell's standards. But he was always there when Octavia needed him.

Charlie and Octavia knew Lucifer and Stolas carried a heavy burden. There was hardly any peace for them. And when there was, it never lasted long. They watched as they dealt with one thing after another, day in and day out. It never ended. It was exhausting. As time passed, they realized what it meant to wear a crown. It was more than just a shiny status symbol. It was a sign that others would look to them for guidance and wisdom. Not everybody could wear the crown. Being the future ruler wasn't something Charlie and Octavia had a choice in. But they could choose how to spend what little time they had.
