Back to the future was one of the greatest movies of all time.
At least that's what Dustin Henderson believed.
And so as they hid from Russian guards, he decided to blend the group in with the other cinema watchers, sitting Ruby, Steve and Robin in their high minds over in the corner of the room. The trio seemed to be enjoying the movie at least, or maybe just the popcorn, which they'd been throwing at each other for the last ten minutes. People had begun to shush them.. they didn't listen.
The tween tried to keep an eye on them, even instructing Erica to do so too, it was only when he turned away for just a moment that the trio started heading for the doorways.Steve had headed straight to the water fountain, an aggressive thirst clenching his throat and Robin and Ruby stayed leant against the wall next to him, giggling away.
"So I wasn't totally focused or anything but like.. was that mom tryna bang her son?"
Ruby's eyes went wide, "ew Robin!" She laughed out loud and her friend put her hands up high in defence, "I'm just saying! It seemedddd like that!"Ruby chuckled to herself, "heh.. seemed is a weird word, seeeeeemed."
Steve had been walking idly towards the middle of the room before Ruby even acknowledged it, staring up at the ceiling.
"Guys.. the ceiling is moving.." Steve whimpered out, clearly feeling some sort of bliss from the 'movement' of the ceiling.
Ruby joined him in watching the world spin, noticing her best friend move besides her to do the same.
It was like a city of stars lived within the ceiling, something that shouldn't be possible, but seemed so real.
Until it made her feel nauseous. As if at once the trio started rushing towards the bathrooms, hands covering their mouths.
Ruby and Steve both darted towards the first bathroom they saw, not realising there was only two toilets.
Robin spoke between gags, "I'll go to the one next door!"***
POV CHANGE - 1st person
I feel my body tingle as I snap back into reality, fingertips rushing with blood. I think I've thrown up all the drugs now, memories of the past couple hours falling into my brain like a landslide.
The sound of gagging from the next cubical is also jogging my memory as I realise I must've just thrown up within earshot of Steve, something I fear I'll never live down.
"Right," he speaks as there's a slight bump sound, leaving me to assume he's leaning against the wall, "I think I've puked it all up now."
I leave a silence between us, the words not forming at my mouth.Am I afraid to speak to him? I thought I was over this?
"Ruby?" I let out a hmm in response and he carries on, voice full of concern, "you puked them out too?"
I shake my fears away, hair falling all over my face as I lean against the wall opposite Steve's cubical, "I don't know.." I let out a chuckle, "ask me a question."He thinks for a moment and questioned, "ok.. what's 7 x 12?"
I fake a gag and kick his cubical wall,
"Ew, something I'll know."
The popular boy lets out a large laugh that echoes through the bathroom.
It's beautiful. Every part of him is beautiful. What must it be like to grow up like that?
"Ok! Ok! What's your favourite pair of tights?" I can practically feel him smirking from behind the wall and a wide smile makes its way onto my face, "my striped ones."
He chuckles once more, "yeah you're definitely sober.. ok ask me something."
I find myself thinking over Steve's life, his personality, his friends.. but there's only one question that comes to mind.
