Ace and y/n were racing through the woods with childish laughter coming from their mouths. Their current ages were seven and eight at the moment, and they were much faster then the year before. Thanks to hard work and determination they were proud of how far they progressed.
"Give it up y/n! I won't lose!" Ace yells out, moving his feet faster with a big grin stretching the expanse of his face.
"Well if you're only concerned about not losing then you're not focused on winning, and I am!" Y/n retorts back with the finish line in her sight.
Both children pushed forward with all their strength. They were both determined not to lose and keep the bragging rights to themselves. At the last foot, they each had a final burst of energy and used it to propel themselves forward. They jumped across the finish line and landed in the clearing on two feet.
"I won!" Ace cheers not even a second later while pumping his fist victoriously in the air.
Y/n snaps her head towards the raven haired boy with a scowl. "I clearly crossed first!"
"No you didn't, you've always been a little slower then me." Ace pats y/n on the head with a condescending smile, "maybe next time you'll do better-ow! What the heck!"
Ace reaches down and grabs his ankle that y/n kicked. Y/n smirked at his pain and walked towards Sabo who was quietly watching the exchange. "Hi Sabo." She greets the blond.
"Hi y/n, what's up with Ace?" Sabo points to the boy who was rolling in the grass and holding his ankle, complaining that he had to get it amputated because of her kick.
Y/n playfully rolls her eyes at his antics and crosses her arms. "He's just being dramatic. I didn't even kick him that hard."
"Just to be safe, I'm gonna take a step away from you," Sabo carefully takes two steps back with his hands up to show he means no offense. Almost like he was frightened of her which wasn't true in the slightest.
Y/n huffs at his actions but doesn't complain about it. Ace slings his arm over y/n's shoulder and kisses her cheek, "sorry for being a jerk." He whispers as she uncrosses her arms.
"Sorry for kicking you. I know you won and was jealous cause I never beat you." Y/n looks down and feels slight regret for acting out. She could get angry but she shouldn't resort to physical violence even if she knew he wasn't affected by her kick in the slightest. It wasn't right.
"That time you were really close. Almost gave me a run for my money." Ace smiles down at her but y/n still feels bad for what she did in the heat of the moment.
"I'm still gonna make it up to you." She says with a pout on her lips.
Ace can't lie and say that he didn't think it was the cutest thing he ever saw. To be fair he thought everything she did was down right adorable. Looking at her lips gave him the idea of what he wanted. "Just kiss me every night and morning and were even."
"That's it?" Y/n questions looking skeptical but Ace just nods in affirment. A big smile breaks out across her face and she rapidly nods her head. "I can do that if it'll make you happy!"
"More then you'll ever know." Ace slips out with his eyes fully focused on y/n. She blushed when she heard this but got snapped out of her trance by another witness to the scene.
