"You can come out now, Min Yoongi! The coast is clear!"

Yoongi jumped at the deep voice, and for a moment forgot he wasn't alone.

Slowly, he rounded the corner of the hallway he was taking solace in. He had been hiding there from Mrs. Park for quite a while. He slightly shook as he revealed himself in the quiet cold hospital room. He approached Mr. Park in a polite way, using his manners by bowing respectfully to him.

"Sir."

Mr. Park sat up and faced his son's best friend. "Thank you again, sweet boy, for saving my son. You administered CPR in the middle of the street. Not many young people such as yourself would have the knowledge or be brave enough to do what you have done. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!"

"You're welcome," he responded quietly.

He didn't say what he really wanted to say, which was, 'Of course I did everything to save my baby!'

"Sir! I'm REALLY sorry about today. I should have been paying better attention!"

Mr. Park sighed as he turned his head down one aisle and then cautiously looked down the other. "Why are you apologizing to me? What did you do wrong? The only thing you did wrong was fall in love with my son. I know how hard it is for you two to be together but also without one another. All I can do is cowardly watch from the sidelines!"

"No sir, you are not a coward, Jimin loves you!"

Mr. Park put his hand up in the air to stop Yoongi from talking. He sighs as silent tears make their way down his sunken cheeks. "I am a coward! I'm in love with an abusive woman who hurts me and my only son; I am in a one-sided relationship with a woman who doesn't reciprocate that love back. I couldn't fight for my happiness, Min Yoongi. But I can fight for Jimin's and yours!"

He reaches inside his expensive suit and pulls out an envelope. "I will from now on do my best to protect the two of you!"

Yoongi lifts an eyebrow in confusion, "Sir?"

"Even though I saw how you were continued to be blamed and bullied, I didn't do anything. I'm sorry I let you down, I'm sorry for letting my son and myself down."

"Mr. Park, please don't say that, not for a single moment did I ever blame you. I always thought that you were a good man who deserved so much better."

"Well today, after seeing Jimin get hurt, I'm not so sure. I come to realize that life is short, too precious to be wasted on trivial things."
