It's been a while
Since I last saw your face
The face that held so much love and kindness
The face that I loved
Cause it belonged to you
And it was beautiful
Just like everything else about you
It's been a while
Since I've heard your voice
The voice that sounded like a sweet melody
Like the sound of wind chimes on a warm summer day
Or the sound of a gentle waterfall in the middle of a luscious green forest
Your voice was so calming
And ever so soft
It's been a while
Since I last held your hand
Hands as soft as a warm fluffy blanket
Hands as gentle as the touch of a mother
It's been a while since I visited your resting place
Next to your husband who you were sealed to for eternity
A place so calm and peaceful
Just like you
And I think it's time I apologised
For not taking better care of you in your last weeks
I was selfish I know
And I'm sorry
I should've been there for you
To help you with anything you needed
I'm so sorry
I watched as you faded
I watched as you withered
But death only made you
Look so much prettier
You gained beauty with time
Not that you were short of it
I've seen pictures of you in your youth
Always so beautiful
And full of life
One more thing I want to apologise for
For not taking better care of your daughter
When you passed away
For she lost her best friend that day
She was there by your side till you left this life
I'm sorry I didn't treat her right
For your beautiful daughter is my mother
And what a wonderful mom she is
Honestly I couldn't ask for better
And I wish I could say
You died of old age
But I fully believe you died of a cancer
You were so sick near the end
I'm sorry for the pain you endured and the appetite you lost
I think the cancer caused this
If you truly did have it
Cause when they tested you and checked your chest they noticed a lump at the bottom of your throat
But you were so stubborn
You wouldn't let them do anymore tests on you
And I can't say I blame you
I think you knew too
But refused to admit
Because ignorance is bliss
So why ruin it
But I wanted to tell you I love you and miss you
And when my time comes I'll come and find you
And we can talk about many things
About how your happy now
In a better place
And I want you to know
That you weren't just my great grandma
But also my friend
And I thank you for being there for all of my life
For helping me and my family whenever you could
I love you and miss you and hope to see you again
