Going into work was insane

Going into work was insane. The doors were locked and the place was empty. Having no idea what the hell was going on, I went around back. It was how we got our deliveries.

Matt was just taking a trash bag out when I got back there. He turned quickly, shoting an arrow at me with a one handed bow. I don't even know how I moved so quickly, but I twirled my ass off to dodge it.

"What the hell man?!" I exclaimed at him, my hands raised to show I meant no harm. Matt lowered the bow before grabbing my arm and yanking me inside.

"What are you doing out?? Didn't Elena stop you?" I raised my brow at him, clearly confused. "Nevermind. She probably went to check on Damon and Stefan."

"Check on Damon and Stef- what the hell is happening??" I glanced around the bar. Blood decorated the surface of the interior. Bonnie was sitting on the ground and a dead body was in front of her. "Bonnie?" I moved quickly to get to her, needing to check if she was okay.

"What are you doing out, Jer? It's not safe!" Bonnie told me, sounding more like a concerned mother than a girlfriend.

"I have work. What the-" I paused as I noticed the dead body was Alaric, his head separated from his body. "Oh my- will somebody tell me what the hell is going on!?" I demanded. My eyes pulling away from my now dead guardian.

"Shit is going down, Jer. Kol killed Alaric for trying to kill Finn. But- that seemed to have set off Caroline and Stefan." Matt explained as he began moving tables against the glass doors.

"Set off?"

"They've gone rabid. Like they have no control of their hunger." Bonnie filled in. "Damon seemed ok-"

"No. He had better control. Damon's eyes were black when he left with Stefan." Matt chimed in before tossing me a stake.

"And Finn and Kol took Caroline." Bonnie added, seeming unfazed by what she had just said.

"Wait, why would the Mikaelson's take Caroline?" It was a valid question. Especially since Kol and Finn were against Klaus.

"For Klaus? I dont know." She shook her head. It was like she didn't care that her best friend was taken by what they had pegged as the enemy of Mystic Falls.

I looked down at Alaric, his hand in Bonnies. His Gilbert ring on his finger.

"He's got his ring- he should be fine... right?" I pointed out. Bonnie shrugged. She seemed completely lost right now. I reached out to take her free hand only for her to pull it away.

"I need to figure out how to fix this." She muttered as Matt camw over to us.

"Bonnie." She looked up at Matt. "Theres candles in the supply closet." He offered. She nodded before standing up, wiping her hands on her jeans before making her way to the back room.

"Vampires." A voice echoed into my mind. "Vile. Need to put them down. Our duty." It was broken sounding. Like it was trying to force its way into my subconscious. I ran my hand through my hair, trying to shake the voice out.

"You good, Jeremy?" Matt questioned, pulling my attention off the voice that faded.

"Huh? Yeah. I'm fine. Just a small headache." I told him before standing up. "I should go see if I can help out anyone outside. If any vampires are going rabid, someone might need help." I told him, grabbing a few stakes from the bartop. Matt stared at me, like he was trying to read past my lie.

"You sure? You seem pale." He pointed out. I shook my head.

"Nah-yeah I'm cool. You have my number. Let me know when Alaric is back." I told him before making my way out the back room. Not seeing Bonnie back there before I left.

The sun burned brightly, displaying the beginning of evening. The streets ran silent. Nobody was out. Where was everybody? Why didn't I notice the emptiness on my way to work?

"Our duty. Kill them. A map-"  The broken voice came back. Not making any sense to me. What the hell is this? I paused in my step as my phone rang.

"Hell-"

"Jer?? Stay home. Don't leave the house. I'll be home soon." Elena's voice echoed through.

"Bit too late for that. I was just at the Grill." I told her. She seemed to be driving.

"What?? No! You need to get home. It's not safe out here! Eve's somehow turning Vampires rabid-"

"Eve? The chick that Bonnie locked away? How could she be doing this?" I questioned as I glanced around.

"I don't- Jeremy, get. Home." She demanded. I rolled my eyes at her even though I knew she couldn't see me.

"Elena, this is ridiculous. Maybe theres someone new in town?" I offered only to get radio silence. "Elena?" I heard the phone drop on her end before I heard her muttering to herself.

"Where- what is this?? I- Hello??" Her voice rang before a screeching sound rang through the phone and a scream before the call ended.

"Elena?! Hello!?" I pulled my phone from my ear. "Shit. Shit. Shit." I dialed Damon's number quickly trying to think of what to do.

"Now's not really a great time, little Gilbert." His voice rang through before a grunt and groan filtered in. It sounded like he was chugging something.

"Elena just got into a crash I think- I don't know where she is." I told him quickly before he could hang up. He couldn't resist my sister.

"Shit." He muttered before I heard him growl. "Get home. I'll find her. Lock the doors. Don't let anyone in- not even if you know them." He growled out before hanging up.

What the hell was that about??

"Hunters kill vampires. We don't befriend them." I turned around quickly to see a ghostly looking man standing there. He looked from another time. Long hair, a cloak? His chest was decorated in some kind of tattoo that trailed down his arm.

"Who the hell are you?" I questioned, grabbing a stake I had in my belt. He smirked.

"Alexander. One of the Five." He introduced. "Now, we need to talk."
