Chapter 25- Red Hair

Laurens POV:

"What do you mean someone's following us?" I'm a little nervous now.

"Well Glenn and Maggie were outside the wall last night and they saw a little camp set up a little ways into the woods." Rick replies

"Okay but how do we know that they were following us?" I question

"We don't but, there camp is close enough to ours that we can assume. So we are. We haven't seen any people but Glenn said there was still a small fire burning when they stumbled across the camp." Rick says and you can see the worry spread across his features.

"What are we going to do?" I ask

"Well we don't know who these people are so we need to be careful. We also need to make sure someone is on watch at all times and check out the camp again." Daryl says

"Sounds like you have a pretty good idea. But why would we go to the camp if we don't know what these people are capable of? Won't that put someone in danger?" I ask

"It could but we have to know what we're up against don't we?" Daryl asks

"We do but its not really worth someone getting hurt is it?" Rick says

"If we don't then they could keep following us and eventually attack us. So do we go to them or let them come to us?" Daryl is starting to get angry but he shouldn't be becasuse we're just trying to solve a problem.

"He's right. We should check them out. Instead of risking everyone's lives and waiting for them." I simply state

"Okay then. Who's gonna go." Rick asks

"I will." Daryl and I say at the same time

"No the heck you're not!" Daryl says

"I can if I want! You can't stop me Dixon!"

"Hey! Both of you stop right now!" Rick yells over us

We both give each other a stare and then turn to look at Rick. Ethan was starting to fuss a little so I switched arms and shushed him while I started to rock him slowly. I took a seat in the chair opposite of Daryl and staired at Rick.

"Listen, both of you can go-"

"She don't need to be going anywhere wi-"

"Daryl! Stop listen to me. Both of you can go because you're excleelent trackers and you're our best hope at finding out who these people are. That's final. You guys can go out tonight."

"What about Ethan?" I asked excited that I finally get to go somewhere for the first time in weeks.

"He can stay with Lori and Carl or Maggie?"

"I'll talk to Maggie later. I'm gonna go now but me and you need to talk about this later." I say to them but mostly Daryl.

"Okay I'll be up soon." Daryl says

I walk out of the room and shut the door quietly. I haven't really been doing anything these past few weeks so I decide to go find Lori or Carol and see if there's anything I can do. The first place I look is the kitchen but no one is in there so I continue my search to the babysitting room. I open the door and Carol is sitting in a chair watching Carl and Sophia play.

"Hey Lauren!" Carl yells which gets Carols attention

"Hey bud! You mind playing with Ethan for a minute?" I ask

"Give him here!" He yells excitedly and takes him over to where him and Sofia were playing.

I walk over to Carol and sit next to her.
