Broken in the Apocalypse

Chapter two~ Georgia Blues

Laurens POV:

When I wake up I'm meet by unfamiliar surroundings. It takes me a minute to realize that I'm at my uncles farm. I rub my eyes and get out of bed. I change into a clean T-shirt and a pair of jean shorts. I throw my hair in a messy bun and make the bed. I need to find Maggie, and find our where my brother is.

I leave the room and close the door. I take the steps two at a time to get to Maggie. When I step outside I see her talking to Glenn I think. I start walking over to them and when they notice I'm close they stop talking. Maggie looks like she was crying.

"Are you okay Maggs?" I wrap my arms around her.

"Yeah I'm fine. Promise." She hugs me back but lets go quickly.

"Ok, I need to ask you about my brother."

"Lauren, I...... We don't know where he is." tears start falling from her eyes and mine.

"W-what?" I'm starting to stutter on my words and I feel like there is no air in my lungs.

"He left about a year ago and we haven't seen him since." she's still crying but not as hard.

"I-I'm going out." I say and walk back to the house before she can say anything.

I walk straight up to my room and grab my bow and arrows and strap a knife to my leg. I walk back outside and straight to the woods. I need some time to think and breathe. He's gone, they don't know where he is or where he went. Ugh! Why can't he just be here for once?

I walk farther into the woods and I don't plan on stopping anytime soon. I come to a clearing surrounded by trees and I sit down right in the middle of it. I sit my bow and arrows in arms reach and bring my knees to my chest and lay my head on my knees. I start crying again and this time I don't stop myself. I just sat there and cried out everything I've been holding in for all of these years. I let them fall until there is no more left and I wipe the tears from my face.

I get up from my spot on the ground and brush myself off. I wipe my face again because I feel tears still coming down my face. I grab my bow and arrows and but them on my back. I start walking back to the farm and when I get there I plan on talking to my uncle.

I start navigating my way through the dark forest. I hadn't realized how long I was actually out there. Must've been a couple of hours because its really dark out. I keep walking hoping that I'm going the right direction. I hear a twig snap and I stop dead in my tracks. I stand as still as possible for a couple of minutes and I hear nothing so I start walking again.

I hear another twig snap, and then I'm on the ground and my thigh hurts really bad. I look and see an arrow sticking out of my leg.

"Oh my god that hurts!" I scream louder than I should've. I start crying again from the pain. Who the heck shot me with an arrow?!

"Hello?" I hear a deep voice ask my from behind a tree. A man comes out and starts walking towards me. When he gets close enough to me I can see his face.

I can see those Georgia Blue eyes I never thought I would see again.
