I look down after my ramble to the doctor. He doesn't seem to mind but I do and I don't want him to get scared or terrified by my thoughts. I am, although they are mine. He writes something down on the clipboard and smiles down at whatever he wrote. I fidget in my seat, gazing around the room. He looks up at me and motions for me to continue.
"I don't know what more to say." I twist the ring on my finger faster. He looks at me and smiles. He puts the pen down and binds his fingers together.
"I know. Lets dive into the Lory character, Lorelai Campbell, and her significant role in both you and Derek's life."
"There's not much there. Lory has been a very non existent person." I brush my hands along the clad of my jeans. He chuckles slightly and lets the silence dwell in the air.
"You work for her, don't you?" He asks and I nod. "So talk to me about that. I want you to really dwell on everything."
I cross my legs over each other and twist my ring one more time before letting it go. I let out a harsh breath and straighten out my back. I notice that I got really comfortable in the time that I told my story. A walk down memory lane was just what I needed.
Note the sarcasm? I learnt a lot from being the best friend of Lorelai Campbell. Working under her wing is like a small little bird leaving the nest but always able to come back. I don't know why I used that comparrison. It was the most relevant in my mind.
"Don't overthink it." He whispers. I smile and cast my head down.
I calm my racing heart and try to assure myself that this is all just memories, even though it all seems real.
