We spent two days in Gondor preparing for our doom. The men were cold and silent and clouds filled the sky. A haze fell upon the earth. When Legolas and I weren't helping in the armoury or with Aragorn we were sleeping. The journey to the black gates would take a long, and uncomfortable two weeks. I tried my hardest to keep my thoughts off Frodo and Sam. We all did, I could tell. Aragorn especially was silent as a stone. Sometimes, in my wanderings, I caught him looking up at the throne. The one he would sit on. His eyes were full of passion, a good one. A deep fire of determination possessed his soul.

I envied his hope.

The night before we left was a sullen and depressed affair. The men remained stiff and silent with their wives silently wiping tears. Legolas sat stiffly at the foot of the large table as we ate our meal. A storm cloud shadowed everyone. Not even Pippin made a single peep. I ate my food as quickly as I could without throwing up from nervous nausea taking over my body.

Merry set his mug down on the table. "I suppose, this is the last ale I will have the pleasure of enjoying."

Gimli frowned and quickly drank the rest of his before reaching for the pitcher to refill it. Legolas frowned and my hands began to shake.

I stood. "Excuse me please," I stated as I ran from the room. I found myself crying once again.

The bedroom door closed behind me as I ran into the washroom and threw up everything in me. I threw up twice more before someone pulled my hair back.

"Aye, my girl. Are you ill?"

I shook my head. My whole body shook with fear. "No."

Legolas drenched a cloth in our wash basin and wiped the back of my neck with it. I used it to clean my face before trying to stand up. My shaky legs gave out but Legolas caught me in his arms and carried me. He placed me on the bed and crawled to lie beside me. I stared up at the ceiling through my blurry eyes.

My husband pulled the covers over us and pulled me to him. After curling up I pulled the corner of the blanket over my head and squinted my eyes shut. Legolas kept whispering to me in elvish as I fell asleep.

~Thranduil~

"My Lord Thranduil. Hail Oropherion. I bring news from Gondor on behalf of Gandalf The White." One of my scribes stepped forward.

I was exhausted. Three assaults in the last two days. My army was nearly spent and my courageous heart was wavering.

"The Companys of King Eomer and Elessar means to march on Mordor. The Prince and Princess are in company."

"What?" I asked sharply.

"Yes My Lord. I understand your distress."

My son. My only son and his beautiful wife were walking to their deaths.

"Go." I said as I turned to look out the tall window.

I looked up at the sky. Tears leaked from my eyes.

This was the end.

My kingdom would end.

I would be the last of my line.
