~Legolas~

Sauron was gone. The dust flew up around me as the earth caved in under the orcs. Mordor was falling. Evil was gone.

A great rumble went up from the mountain and lava gushed.

"No." I gasped. We all watched in horror as the fire poured down the rocky escarpment. The eagles scooped Gandalf up and flew towards the mountain. I watched the horizon with everyone else. Not two minutes later did the eagles appear with two small objects. Cheers of joy went up from the fellowship as the Eagles flew over.

I ran over the battlefield looking for my wife. "Gracie?" I called. Where was she? Why couldn't I find her? I was starting to panic. I looked under orcs and scrap armour.

Gimli walked beside me. "Aye lass, where are you?"

Elladan looked under a troll. "Maybe she's with Aragorn?"

"I can't sense her." I stated. My heart pounded and my soul cried for hers.

Elladan stopped. "Legolas." He pointed.

A woman was lying still on the ground. Blood poured from her side.

"NO!" I yelled as I slammed to my knees beside her.

"Erulisse!" Elladan knelt.

My wife was almost cold to the touch. I felt her up and down—no broken bones. An arrow shaft was embedded in her upper thigh.

Elladan looked at me. "She has a faint pulse but if I try to remove that arrow it could kill her."

"Does she have even a small chance?" Gimli asked.

"If mercy is with her." Elladan gripped the black shaft. He looked at me for approval. "Legolas?"

I held her still form in my arms. Her beautiful, doe-like eyes were closed and the once charming smile was gone. I wanted to hear her giggle again. If I lost her, all joy would be gone from my life. I placed my hand protectively on her stomach and then I nodded slowly.

"Don't leave me," I whispered. "Please don't leave me."

I pressed my lips to her head as Elladan pulled the arrow out and held a rag over the wound. "She needs help. She's not going to make it. Legolas, I think you'd best say goodbye." Elladan looked at me sadly.

No. It was just a dream. She cannot die.

"You can't leave me." I choked. My beautiful angel was dying in my arms. Elladan put his hand on my shoulder.

"I love her," I whispered.

"I know."

Gimli passed me a blanket from my pack. "Here lad, you can use this." He looked heartbroken.

"No," I stated.

I pressed my lips to hers and prayed. "What I have, pass it to her." I repeated over and over again until I fell weakened beside her. I held her hand in my own. I heard anxious voices around me.

"Legolas!" Someone yelled as my eyes fell closed.

~Erulisse~

I floated aimlessly in the black abyss. No pain, no feeling.

At first, I could feel my limbs but couldn't move them. I could see the light through my eyelids as the sun shone down on my face.

"Face it Elrohir, they're both going to die."

"I will not give up on them."

"Erulisse is practically dead and Legolas is going to be so soon." The voice replied.
