"Which one?" Max asked, holding up a copy of Green Lantern and Wonder Woman. Oscar and El were sleeping over again.

El sighed. "I dunno." She spoke as she got in Max's bed. Oscar had a sleeping bag set up on the floor.

"Hey, there's nothing more to worry about. We saw Heather, she's fine, and Billy's just kinda messed up in general, but he's not a murderer." Max insisted.

El nodded and looked at the comics again. "Who...is that?" She asked, pointing at Wonder Woman.

Max scoffed. "This is why you can't just hang out with Mike and the others."

"Hey, I like Wonder Woman." Oscar insisted in offense. "And so do the boys for record, they just like some of the others more."

Max rolled her eyes. "This is Wonder Woman, aka Princess Diana." She explained to El.

The next morning, they woke up to hear Lucas on the walkie. "Code red! Max, are you there? This is a code red!"

"Shut. Up." Max hissed into the walkie before shutting it off and turning over to sleep more.

And then the phone rang, right by Oscar, making him yelp at the sudden noise. He quickly realized he was struggling to breathe and took a second to catch his breath. Groaning, he got out of his sleeping bag and answered. "Yeah?" God his ribs ached.

"What the- Oscar!?" It was Mike this time.

Oscar clicked his tongue tiredly. "Do you know what time it is?"

"DON'T HANG UP! This is a code red. Something happened and our very lives might be at stake."

Oscar's eyes widened. "What? What's going on?"

"Just get over here and hurry, we'll explain everything!" Mike hung up.

Oscar bit his lip, looking over at El and Max who were giving him questioning gazes.

"We've gotta go."

They got to Mike's as soon as possible and all huddled in the basement. Apparently Will felt the presence of the creature from the Upside Down again.

"I didn't think it was anything at first," Will explained softly. "I think I just...didn't want to believe it. The first time I felt it was when we went to the movies. And then I felt it out at the field the next day. And then yesterday outside Castle Byers"

"What does it...feel like?" Max questioned hesitantly.

"It's almost like...you know when you drop on a roller coaster? It's like everything inside your body is just sinking, all at once. But this is worse, your body...it goes cold, and you can't breathe. I felt it before, whenever he was close; the Mind Flayer." He explained.

El frowned. "I...closed the gate."

Will swallowed hard. "I know but...what if he never left? What if we locked him out here with us?"

"But how? The Demodogs died when the gate was closed, even if he was still here...he should be dead." Oscar insisted.

"But let's assume he survived." Mike told him. "We need to prepare for the worst. The Mind Flayer is back."

Will nodded. "And if that's the case, he'd want to attach himself to someone again. A new host."

El, Max and Oscar exchanged a look.

"How can you tell if someone's a host?" El questioned.

With that, they filled the boys in on how Billy's been acting weird, and went to the pool to check him out.
