Will's house was filled with strange drawings, all connected to each other. Joyce was trying to help him figure out just what was happening.
They headed straight for Will's room, and found him sitting on his bed, looking spaced out.
"...Will?" Oscar called out softly, making him jump in surprise.
He looked over at him and Mike with wide eyes.
"...Talk to us." Mike pleaded. "What's going on?"
Will's eyes slowly fell on to Oscar, who huffed and headed for the door.
"Don't go." Oscar froze, turning to look at him hesitantly.
He looked so...sad. "Please don't go..." He spoke in a near whisper.
Hesitantly, Oscar came over and sat down next to him as Mike looked around the room. "What's going on, Will?" He asked caringly.
Will was sweating despite the inside of the house freezing. "...It's like...it's like I feel what the shadow monster is feeling." He swallowed hard. "See, what he's seeing..."
"Like in the Upside Down?" Mike questioned.
"Some of him is there..." Will nodded. "But some of him is here too."
Oscar's eyebrows furrowed. "Here where, Will? In the house?"
"The house and..." Tears filled Will's eyes as he trembled. "In me. It's like- It's like he's reaching into Hawkins more and more and the more he spreads the more I feel connected to him."
"And the more you see these now-memories." Mike realized as he sat down on Will's other side.
Will sniffed. "Before I just felt it at the back of my head..." His eyes narrowed in disgust. "I didn't even really know it was there." Oscar took his hand and rubbed it soothingly. "It's like when you have a dream and you can't remember it unless you think really hard...it was like that. But now it's like- I remember all the time." Tears rolled down his cheeks as he shook uncontrollably.
Oscar tugged him closer so his head rested on his chest. "It's okay..." He whispered gently, running a hand through Will's hair.
"Maybe...maybe it's good." Mike started.
"Mike." Oscar stared at him with disbelief.
"No because, now you're like a superspy Will. Spying on the shadow monster. If you know what he's feeling and seeing, maybe that's how we can stop him." Mike insisted. "Maybe all of this is happening for a reason."
Will sniffed. "Y-You really think so?"
"Yeah, yeah I really do." Mike insisted.
But then Will spotted the drawing he made of the shadow monster, and his shaking got worse. "What if he f-figures out I'm spying on him? W-What if he...spies back?"
"He won't." Oscar promised in an instant.
More tears welled up in Will's eyes as he ripped away from Oscar to glare at him. "HOW DO YOU KNOW!?"
"BECAUSE WE WON'T LET HIM!" Oscar insisted firmly, taking Will's face in his hands and looking him in the eyes. "No matter what, okay? We're going to protect you and we're going to figure this out, and I'm not going to leave you again like I did before. I left you in that damn bathroom by yourself and you ended up having another memory..." He looked away regretfully.
"If I had just...tried to understand a bit better, respected that there's some things you don't need to share with me...then maybe you wouldn't be suffering so much now." He explained softly.
