It turns out I did break my hand, and now I was stuck in some ugly fucking cast for six weeks. As if I wasn't already drawing attention to myself, luckily the nurses at the emergency department seemed to believe my story, so they didn't need to notify the crisis team or my mom about the risk of self-harm.Scarlett stayed the night, we went to the hospital, I tried to refuse but she was insistent, we ordered a take-out and watched some shitty rom-comes on Netflix. And I hate to admit it, but it was one of the best evenings I've had in a long time. Turns out when you spend one on one time with a person, you actually realise how funny they are. And it forced me to think, I don't think any of my old friends actually made me laugh, like we never sat there and shared our laughter. Instead, we just talked about boys or bitched about people behind their backs.
Speak of the devil, I look down as my phone pings, it was Scarlett messaging me to let me know that she was parked outside. During our sleepover, she also forced me to accept car-rides of her until my hand was healed, she didn't like the thought of me walking such a long way injured or for someone to knock into me on the bus. And to be honest, I didn't want either of those things either. But unfortunately accepting a ride from Scarlett, meant that I was forced to spend extra time with Lucas.
I grab my backpack, I go into the living room to say goodbye to my mom, but she was passed out on the sofa with a bottle of wine next to her. I frown deeply at her state, I've not seen her like this in a long-time, my guess was that there was a new boyfriend on the scene. Whenever mom fell in 'love' she turned to alcohol.
I shake my head before quietly leaving the house, the last thing I wanted right now was to wake her up. A small smile works it's way on my lips as I can hear Scarlett's music blasting loudly from her car, that girl seriously doesn't know the meaning of volume control.
'Morning Autie!' She chirps.
I furrow my brows, as I climb into the backseat, 'Autie?'
'Yeah, I really wanted a nickname for you! So, I was racking my brain for ages, wasn't I Luke?'
'Yup.' He says, his tone lacking any interest whatsoever at this conversation.
'And, I literally couldn't think of anything! So, I ended up having to google and I found Autie, personally, I really like it.'
I laugh slightly at her ramble, 'Thanks...Scar.'
She lets out a small squeal, 'You just called me Scar, we're officially on a nickname basis, how exciting!'
Lucas' head snaps up, 'You'll have to excuse her, she hasn't had any female friends in years.'
Scarlett narrows her eyes at him, 'Why am I related to you?'
He shrugs, 'Our parents wanted to fuck.'
I stifle laugher at his answer because honestly, I found it funny, but I didn't want to grow his already enlarged ego any further.
'Lucas!' She shrieks, 'Please don't talk about our parents doing that!'
'Hey! I'm the one whose room is next to theirs; I literally hear it! You seriously don't fucking understand how scarring that is!'
'My room is next yours, trust me. I realise how scarring it is. Especially when it's a different girl every night'
I raise an eyebrow in interest, it didn't surprise me that he was able to get this much female attention because even though it pains me to admit, he's beyond handsome, I don't even think there was an adjective strong enough to describe his beauty. But I just couldn't comprehend how girls, could look past what an asshole he is.
