Nerves bundle my stomach as I pull into the driveway of my new 'home.' Scarlett's car trailing close behind me, I couldn't fit all of my things in one car, so she offered to help me settle in. I shakily climb out of the car; I turn my head when I hear a door slam shut, the pink-haired girl walks towards me with a small smile.
'How you feeling Autie?'
I shrug, 'I-I don't know.'
'New things can be really scary, I get that. But sometimes they can also be just what we need.'
I nod, 'Hopefully.'
Her hand intwines with mine as I walk towards the front-door it was painted a pastel blue colour, I ring the doorbell as my foot begins to tap against the wooden porch. The door swings open to reveal Olivia stood there in sweatpants with a grinning Winter in her arms.
'Hey honey, you don't need to knock! This is your house now.'
'Right, sorry.'
Scarlett waves at her, 'Hey I'm Scarlett, I'm the best friend.'
Olivia grins at her, 'I've heard about you, it's nice to meet you. I'm Liv.'
'Aw, Autie do you talk about me?'
I roll my eyes, 'Let's just get inside.'
We both follow Olivia inside, we don't stop until we reach the kitchen. Sitting on the table was a wooden box which had the word 'Autumn' written on it, I hesitantly edge towards it. Inside there was a new pair of pyjamas, various self-care products and some snacks.
'I just wanted to get you a little welcome gift.'
'Oh, thank you.'
The blonde woman steps closer towards me, 'I want you to think of this house as your home now, that means you can have your friends over whenever you want, you just need to let me know. I do have a couple of ground rules though.'
I wince, 'Okay, what are they?'
'I'm not an idiot, I was only a teenager a couple of years ago, I realise that you are going to be drinking, having boys over, going to parties. A-And that's fine, I know that if I tell you not to do something, you are just going to want to do it more. All I ask is that you're honest, I want us to be able to speak to each other about things. I'm not going to try to be your mom, I know that's not what you want.'
'I actually appreciate that.'
Scarlett laughs slightly, 'That's the most you'll get out of her, she's a little cold at first.'
I narrow my eyes, 'I'm not that cold.'
'You really are, but it's okay. I managed to warm you up!'
I sigh loudly, 'Fine, I guess you did a little.'
Oliva looks amused at our exchange, 'So, how long have you two been friends for?'
'Four months, I helped her when she got a flat tire, and I've forced her into my life ever since.'
'That's exactly what happened.'
'Scarlett can stay over tonight if you want?' My aunt says she sets Winter down on the floor.
I shrug, 'Do you want to stay over?'
The pink-haired girls eyes sparkle, 'I would love too!'
'I'll order you girls some takeout later on. I know that after a day of un-packing the last thing you'll want is to eat something homemade.'
Scarlett looks around excitedly, 'Can I move in as well?'
I roll my eyes, 'No, you can't.'
'Such a meanie.'
