53- The one where I try to help Scarlett

I warily eye up Scarlett as she passes me my bowl of cereal, she was unusually quiet this morning and I hated it. Her perky attitude was never something I thought I would miss but now it's gone, I really do.

'Talk to me, Scar.' 

She shrugs, 'I-I just feel exhausted.'

'I'm not surprised, you're going through a lot right now.'

'I-I don't even know, what to do. I-I've always wanted kids, but I just never thought I'd be giving birth at eighteen.'

I shrug, 'Sometimes life doesn't work out the way we think it will.'

'I-I was going to book an appointment at the clinic but I couldn't bring myself to ring them. B-But then I feel like a massive idiot raising a child on my own, when I barely know the father.'

I shake my head, 'Scar, you aren't an idiot at all. If you decide to raise this baby, you will be the kind of mother, I could have only dreamed of having.'

Her eyes gloss over with tears, 'Really?'

'Of course, you will, I have never met a more caring or considerate person in my entire life. Whether it's now or in twenty years, you will be the best mom in the entire world. And I truly mean every word of that.'

'I-I'm three weeks. W-When I'm giving birth, I should be going to college.' 

'You can still go to college, Scar.'

She sighs loudly, 'I doubt Julliard will want some knocked-up, screw up.'

I shake my head, 'You aren't a screw up at all, stop talking about yourself like that! And if Julliard, don't want you anymore then fuck them! You are going to achieve so many amazing things, I wish that you could see that.'

The pink-haired girl lets out a watery laugh, 'I love you, you know that?'

'I love you too.'

'I'm meeting Rocky tonight to talk about things.'

My eyebrows knit together, 'How are you feeling about that?'

'Shit scared to be honest. He's only nineteen, I doubt he's going to want some kid weighing him down.'

'Look, if Rocky doesn't want to be in this baby's life, then that will be the biggest mistake he could ever make. B-But your baby is going to be so loved, by me, Brooke, your dad, Luke, Sammy and probably Toby when he eventually comes round.'

Scarlett winces, 'T-Toby actually left me some rather aggressive voicemails.'

Anger bubbles in my stomach, as I think about someone acting this way towards one of the sweetest people, I've ever met.

'Saying what?!'

'T-That I was a whore, and I shouldn't be sleeping around. A-And I need to learn how to use birth-control, he sounded really drunk.'

'W-What?'

My mind flickers back to when Toby comforted me about Lucas' ex-girlfriend 'slut-shaming' me. This just doesn't sound like the same person who sent Scarlett them voicemails.

'H-He's never been judgemental like this towards me before, I-I don't understand. I don't get what I've done wrong.'

I frown, 'You've done nothing wrong, he's the one who's in the wrong! He's got a fucking girlfriend, why does he care about who you are sleeping with?!'

Lucas trudges into the kitchen rubbing his eyes, he gives me a lazy smile before opening the fridge.

'How are you feeling?' He asks as he turns to look at his sister.
