I roll my eyes as I watch Lucas throw cushions and a duvet onto an air-mattress directly next to the sofa.
'You can go and sleep in your own room. I'm a big girl, I don't need you next to me.'
'Princess, do you really think I'd leave you alone when you are concussed?'
'I feel better now.'
He raises an eyebrow at me, 'Do you really?'
I laugh slightly, 'I actually do, I haven't been sick in nearly three hours and my vision is no longer blurry.'
'I'm still not risking it.'
'I also could have just slept in Scarlett's room?'
'She literally would sleep through a fire, if you need urgent help, you physically wouldn't be able to wake her up.'
I shrug, 'Okay, I admit. She is a pretty heavy sleeper.'
He pats the mattress proudly, 'Look, I've set it all up for you.'
'Thank you for all your hard work, would you like a gold star or a medal?'
He shoots me a boyish grin that makes my knees weak, 'A gold star, please.'
'Manners, as well? Aren't you behaving like a good boy?'
Lucas makes a face at me, 'Don't talk to me like I'm a dog.'
'Then don't look like one.'
'We both know, you don't think I look like a dog. I mean earlier, you were telling me that I could put my hands wherever I wanted too.'
I let out a groan as I bury my face into my hands, 'Please can we never speak of that again!'
'No can-do princess, it's permanently engraved into my brain.'
I send daggers in his direction as I settle myself down on the mattress, 'You are such a tool.'
'Thank you, I like to think it's one of my best qualities, either that or my really pretty eyes, I believe it was you who told me that. I could be mistaken though.'
I clench my jaw, 'Shut the fuck up.'
He places a hand to his chest, 'Is that anyway to speak to the guy who saved your ass tonight?'
I scoff loudly, 'You barely saved my ass. You forced me to go to the emergency department, when I didn't even need to go!'
'Luckily, you didn't!'
'I admit it's quite cute how worried you were.'
His hazel eyes roll, 'Only because Scarlett would physically castrate me if I let anything happen to you.'
'Yeah sure, that was the only reason.'
'How's your pain?'
'It's settled down a-lot, the pain killers really worked.'
He nods with a small smile on his face before he gets himself comfortable on the sofa, 'You know, I actually feel quite relieved that Sophia broke up with me.'
I prop myself up onto my elbows, 'Really? You seemed crazy about her.'
He shrugs, 'I think I just liked the idea of her, not actually her.'
'I'm surprised at that.'
'Plus, I missed being able to hang out with you, like this.'
My heart swells as my stomach simultaneously flutters, 'You missed me? It was only two weeks, be careful I'm starting to think you're in love with me.'
