Chapter 55: A Master And A Vice-Captain

PART 1: RUPHOL

After giving the news, Mr. Largman left by asking every Army to be on alert and wait for further orders. As Raymond and Katie were oblivious to the situation, Eve explained to them,

"Ruphol is a vampire," she said. "He was one of the Zortus members who was caught and imprisoned after the previous war. He can't age and die so he was kept under surveillance. But now as he is freed by none other than Aynor, the leader of the Zortus, the situation is serious. Aynor wishes to start another war or at least let us know that he can."

"You kids do not need to worry," said Captain Foster. "Such matters are handled by the Masters and Army 1 and 2. We just have to be on alert so our citizens can be helped when needed."

"Yes," said Captain Raye. "You can go and rest now."

"Okay," said Katie. "I'll go find more cake!"

"We will stay ready to help," said Raymond, correcting Katie.

Raymond's mind was running math about the cost of repairing the hall. Even if the expense was to be divided into 3, the amount would surely empty the account of Army 11. They were not so popular and stable yet.

As Raymond and Katie were leaving with Captain Foster and Captain Raye, Captain Foster whispered in Raymond's ear,

"Don't worry about the expense of the repairs, I'll cover Army 11's share."

Raymond was relieved after hearing that. He understood that Captain Foster had some fun in that fight. He did not try to stop any of the sides because he wanted to see how it would go.

Katie was happy with her performance, but she had her head wrapped in the imagination of Master Owens scolding Raymond and her for their behavior. She was terrified when she realized that their punishment would be more workout and less cake.

Back in that hall, Captain Ellie and Captain Rox were about to leave, Eve came to them, who was pretending to look for something she lost during the commotion. As she was alone with the two Captains, she took out a paper from her bag and handed it to them.

"What's this?" asked Captain Ellie.

Captain Rox went ahead to read.

"This is a formal notice," said Eve with a nasty smile. "We received a tip that Army 6 and 8 have been discriminating against humans for a long. With your current actions of fighting two humans from Army 11, we are obligated to investigate this tip."

"What?" Captain Ellie, "The fight happened now, you couldn't have prepared the document right now."

Captain Ellie and Captain Rox realized that Eve had prepared the document before coming to the party. She had the foresight to prepare the document as there was going to be a fight in any scenario.

Eve brought Raymond along with Katie for a reason. She knew the Captains would pick a fight. And her father was mad at the Armies for the fight so Armies 6 & 8 would not have the courage to ask for dismissal of the investigation. Even if they did, it would only make the President suspicious of the situation.

"I could have brought along Aarav," Eve said, "but I thought I'd show some mercy and bring someone who can be controlled even when insulted by someone. If Aarav were, he would not stop even if he was threatened to be jailed."

"Are you threatening us?" asked Captain Rox. "Aarav cannot defeat the both of us."

"The question isn't about who defeats whom," said Eve, "if the word gets out that two mighty Captains picked on one single human, the cat will be out of the bag without my help."
