Chapter 67: Goals

PART 1: SECOND NATURE

After watching Raymond's aura change. Alice was on guard. Raymond's right side was overflowing with energy. He was half normal and half Berserk. His right eye had turned red for some reason.

Katie came closer and asked,

"Ray, are you okay? Is that you?"

"Of course, it's me," Raymond said. "Who else could it be?"

Katie and Alice sighed in relief. Their suspicion was important, Raymond did not look friendly and approachable with his half-Berserk side.

"Excellent work!" said Master Owens.

He had just arrived. He saw Raymond's achievement and came to the beach right away. He had no idea Raymond would achieve a stable transformation in that little time. He knew Raymond had a long way to go even after that, but he was proud. He wanted to test Raymond, so he quickly formed a fireball and launched it at Raymond.

Master Owens used a lot of speed, everyone had their guard low, but Raymond's right hand moved quickly and deflected the fireball toward the sea where it exploded into a huge sphere. The shockwave was far stronger than any normal explosion.

"That's the best I can hope for," said Master Owens.

Raymond and Alice were smiling too. Raymond was able to use his powers and his senses and speed had improved. But Katie came closer to Master Owens and yelled,

"What were you thinking? If Raymond weren't able to stop it, we would all be dead right now! Do you want to kill your own students?"

"I'm sorry, Katie," said Master Owens with a smile, "but even if Raymond would have failed, I would have still saved you all."

"What a showoff!" Katie snapped. "Now, I will take 3 strawberry cakes and 4 chocolate cakes to accept your apology."

Raymond and Alice slapped their heads. Master Owens came forward and kept his hand on Raymond's shoulder and said,

"I am proud of you. You have done well, now you just need to make this transformation second nature to you. Try turning this Berserk state off and then on again."

Raymond tried only a little, the half-Berserk state turned off easily. He could feel the intensity of the aura disappearing. It was as if his body felt lighter now. He tried to turn it on again, but it did not work.

"Don't worry," Master Owens assured, "You just need a little more practice."

"Yes," said Raymond in a hype.

"Is the power level okay, Alice?" Master Owens asked.

"Yes," said Alice, "I can sense it clearly, Raymond's half-Berserk state had far lower intensity than the original one. It does not damage his body."

"Great work, you two," said Master Owens and then he left toward the Beach House.

Raymond remembered something Master Owens had told him not long ago. He had told Raymond that he was assigned to be his Master for a reason. Raymond suspected the reason was that Master Owens could go into the Berserk state too. But Master Owens never said anything about it.

"Hey, Alice," Raymond said, "You can sense this weird aura in the person who can go into the Berserk state, can you sense that from Master Owens?"

"No," Alice said directly, "Of all the people I have met, only you and Aarav can transform. And the Berserk State is more of a human thing. Once in centuries, it is possible for a talented Elemental Being to go to Berserk State. The ones raised in the Human World have different compositions when compared to an Elemental Being so the aura develops in them. As there are not many who can go into that state, research is far behind on this topic."
