Chapter 66: Nudge

PART 1: CONTROL

"Okay, so let's get started," said Raymond with excitement.

Back in the present time, Raymond, Katie, Alice, and Master Owens were standing at the beach. Master Owens in his usual blue cloak with white flame patterns and others in their workout clothes. A lot was going on at the Army 11 HQ. Alice had returned not very long ago, and Master Owens and Raymond needed her for something.

Raymond always wanted to learn and control his Berserk state. He wanted to use it like Aarav, freely and nicely. Raymond's power increased a lot in that state, but it harmed his body as its power was uncontrollable for him. Alice was great at sensing and healing. Master Owens wanted Alice to help Raymond reach a point where his Berserk state stayed in control without harming his body.

Alice had healing and sensory training in her schedule on many days, so she decided to help out Raymond as it was her routine. All she had to do was concentrate on Raymond's Elemental Energy changes and monitor his physical condition. She had to keep reminding Raymond to pull it down, and if Raymond failed to do so, Alice was free to attack and stop him. She could also heal injuries to anyone during the process.

The training was mostly boring. Raymond tried to achieve the Berserk state but failed as he could only do it easily when he was angry. His training did not make him feel like that.

"Why don't you try to use your memories?" asked Katie. "You know, like the time when I was hurt and you were worried. You went berserk by the rage."

"Katie is not wrong, Raymond," said Alice. "If things go south, we can help you out."

"I don't want to do that," said Raymond. He had given it a thought and it was clear to him that he did not want to imagine and go through with it all again. "I cannot survive that again," he said.

"Aw, so sweet," Katie said, hugging Raymond.

Raymond was getting a bit emotional. When Katie was in danger, for Raymond, it was one of the worst moments of his life. He cared about Katie. But she was never serious.

"I know you care about me very much," Katie said, "why don't you buy me a cake for 1 year and we will call it even?"

"Even for what?" Raymond yelled, "You made me worry, you buy me cake, I will eat and you can just stare."

"What kind of a torturer are you?" Katie yelled, "Even just thinking about not letting me eat a cake is punishable by exile!"

Alice could not stop laughing, Raymond and Katie were so funny together. She wished she had that with someone. She wished for it more than anything, but Gavin was nothing like Raymond.

PART 2: LIGHTNING

Katie had received an Heirloom from the Dark Dragon not long ago, she was compatible with it as she was the owner, but she could hardly use it. Master Owens helped her practice to use the Heirloom the best she could. She could hardly use it at 2% of its power for the time being.

The Heirloom was a pendant with a Lightning bolt on its front. Whenever Katie drew power from the pendant, the lightning bolt glowed white. Using an Heirloom at full power right away could be equal to getting vaporized, so Master Owens took utmost care in keeping Katie under her limits.

Raymond, Gavin, Aarav, and Annie tried to use the Heirloom for themselves, but it burned their hands hot on touch. Master Owens and Master Wyngaf refused to try using the Heirloom, but they wanted to do it anyway.

The missions were very boring and normal, but Army 11 had to keep making a profit, so they had to go on missions whenever they arrived. Katie kept the Heirloom hidden in her shirt or T-shirt whenever she went outside. Master Owens suggested keeping it that way until she learned to use most of its power.
