Chapter 74: Trap

PART 1: JADE'S PLAN

Jade walked through the hall and knocked on a door. He and Rebecca were not in Koyaku anymore. Jade had lost trust in her sister after she carried out executions of humans who had Elemental Powers. Jade and Rebecca were living on a tiny island on the Human Earth for the time being.

Jade created a small lodge with 2 rooms and a hall on his own on that undiscovered island. Rebecca was still in shock after her team was defeated so easily in Elemental Lands by Army 11. She had not trained in weeks.

Rebecca did not open the door when Jade knocked, but that was expected, so Jade walked in. He had a glass of fresh juice which he put on the table near the door. The room was very small, and had only a bed and a table. Rebecca did not clean well, so her room was a mess. Her dagger was lying on one end of the room and her clothes on the other.

Rebecca got up from her bed, but she did not look Jade in the eye and walked to the table and picked up the juice and drank it.

"How long are you going to be like this?" asked Jade. "You know you could be training at this time."

Rebecca did not reply. She did not even meet Jade's eye. Jade raised Rebecca's head by pushing her chin up with his hand. He said,

"You did nothing embarrassing, you can see my eyes."

"I did," said Rebecca. She freed her face and walked back to her bed. "I was useless. I lost to humans and now I am living on Human Earth. I don't even know what I am or what I should do anymore. I've lost all motivation."

"I can only bring you to a lake when you're thirsty," Jade said, "I can't make you drink the water. It's your choice."

Rebecca did not reply.

"Maybe you should," Jade said after a pause. "Maybe you should lose your old self, take off that old mask you are trying to cling on to. So that you become a new you."

"I don't want to lose anymore," said Rebecca.

Jade sensed a sob from Rebecca. He knew it was hard for Rebecca to take a loss and when she aimed higher than anyone. He remembered the day she pledged to overtake Nomus. Everyone knew what Nomus was and how deadly and dangerous he was, but she pledged to take him down and be the best student in Koyaku's history.

"I'm going back to Elemental Earth," said Jade. "I received the order from the Ruler, she has something urgent to discuss. You'll stay here and begin your training until I get back."

PART 2: ARMY 8

"Sir, you can visit tomorrow," said an Army 8 member to Master Owens. "Captain Rox will not return today," she added.

It had been 2 hours but Captain Rox did not attend Master Owens. It was very likely that Army 8 had known about Master Owens's mission and was trying to avoid it all together.

"I declare full control of Army 8 grounds," said Master Owens. "With cooperation or by force, I have a right to carry out my duties and seal all the exits of the entire campus until the investigation is done."

"Sir we can discuss this—" the member continued but Master Owens passed by her and opened the door to the hall.

The people outside were shocked to see Master Owens. All of the members outside were wearing gas masks. When they saw Master Owens, one of them yelled,

"RELEASE THE GAS, NOW!"

The vents began to release a gas. All the Army 8 members began to run with their masks on. They were running away from the hall, Master Owens sighed in pity for them.
