PART 1: PASSING YEAR
After that incident, Gavin was visited by his family at the infirmary. Master Kirason and Master Ellendun visited him as well. He was exhausted and that was why was at the infirmary. He was able to control his destructive flames and so he was able to pass.
Alice had healed him well. Gavin did not leave the infirmary for a few days, but Alice thanked Aarav when she met him at the Grand House for dinner.
"I didn't do anything special," said Aarav. "Anyone in the right mind would do that."
Gavin did not say to anyone but Alice that he was grateful that Aarav came to help him. Only the hatred of not being weak pulled him above the darkness he felt when using his Element. He was motivated to work hard and be the strongest.
The next year was passing by quickly. Gavin was on par with Votilda now. They were almost equal in terms of strength. There was no doubt that Aarav still had the throne. Alice was doing so well at the infirmary that she was able to heal most injuries effortlessly. It was like second nature to her now.
Eve was the best when it came to hand-to-hand combat at the Academy. Annie was able to control more and more Elemental Energy while she trained with Aarav. Finek and all the other Electricity Elements were doing great as Master Kirason taught them herself.
They were at the end of the year in no time. Their exams had ended for educational subjects and they were at the Grand House to listen to the announcement about the final Elemental test.
"We will conduct a small tournament," said Master Ellendun. "Randomly drawing names to fight against and the one at the top wins."
Everyone was excited, there was nothing new, this tournament happened every year for the graduates. Ginny Clear won last time. She was terrific. She won flawlessly.
"There is one more thing," said Master Ellendun.
Everyone paid attention to him immediately.
"As all of you are my last batch of students," said Master Ellendun. "I will give you something to drive yourselves forward. The winner of this Battlelyte will get to be my student after passing the Elemental Academy. And also, one friend of theirs who they like to train with."
A different kind of energy passed through the student crowd. Most of them were excited. Some could not get themselves motivated as it was too tough. There was also a section of students who directly said that Aarav was unbeatable and the winner was surely going to be him.
But there were people with hope in their eyes and hard work in their schedules. Gavin, Votilda, Finek, Eve, and Alice were only a few of them.
PART 2: GAVIN'S REQUEST
Gavin checked when Master Kirason was available in her office. She was someone who liked things to be on time. Gavin went to meet her right at 4 pm as he had something to ask. Gavin was about to knock when he heard,
"Come in, Mr. Murray."
Gavin went inside and found Master Kirason sipping her tea. Her office was not quite big, but it was well maintained and had the least furniture or decoration. She was dressed in her usual Master's attire of a blue cloak with black robes for combat. She seemed old, but doubting her strength was a mistake.
Gavin did not waste any time.
"I am here to ask you to make me your student," said Gavin. "Now, before you ask me why, I will say. I think it's for the best. I have improved over this year. I am no longer someone who struggles with his Elemental Powers. And my partner, Alice Albie is quite talented in her slot."
