PART 1: HEIRLOOMS
Everyone knew at that point that the Zortus was collecting Heirlooms. And the recent news about Aynor freeing one of his faithful friends was all over the media. Ruphol, a vampire, who was caught in the previous war, was imprisoned in a faraway land with maximum security. Aynor freed him.
Raymond and the others already had an encounter with 3 other Zortus members during the last Battlelyte. Miri and Christopher were very tough to defeat. Just recently, Raymond and Katie met Domino, another power Zortus member. And then, Ruphol came on the news.
Only two of the Zortus members were unknown for the time being. Raymond had a hunch that Master Owens and the other Masters knew about those two members, but they would not confirm anything as it had been years since the past war. It could also be that new members had joined Zortus.
"Now, coming to the main matter," said Master Latif, "Army 11 would attract a lot of Zortus and Koyaku attention, as there are humans and students of Masters within. No doubt, other Armies will assist when needed, but it could be too late in some cases. We want you all to train to the best of your abilities."
"We are doing that," said Katie.
"Like never before," said Gavin.
"Good," said Master Latif.
"Zortus already has one Heirloom," said Master Owens, "the other was supposed to be with you, Katie."
Katie looked at the tattoo-like thing on her arm. She did not feel anything weird, it was like she did not even have that mark of a circular object with a lightning bolt on it. She received that mark from the Dark Dragon — the Protector of Heirlooms, back when they were stuck in the Dark Forest.
"Heirlooms appear only when the Dark Dragon wants them to," said Master Wyngaf. "Maybe the time or need for Katie to have that Heirloom has not arrived yet. Or the ownership has been transferred to someone else."
"It could be," said Master Latif. "The worrisome thing is that the ownership won't always go to a citizen of Elemental Lands, it could go to someone in Koyaku as well. Even to a Zortus member or a Human on Human Earth."
Raymond was amazed to hear that. That point had not crossed his mind. If the Heirloom was given to the people by the Dark Dragon, it won't give it to someone wrong. Or could it?
"No one knows," said Master Wyngaf after reading Raymond's mind.
"Can we find the other Heirlooms?" asked Gavin.
"You stay the hell away from them," said Master Latif snapped at Gavin. "We have heard about your wishes to gain the Orb of Wishing and do something nasty."
"Relax, Master Latif," said Gavin, "I am not that person anymore."
Master Wyngaf confirmed with a nod.
"There is a theory," said Master Owens, "according to that, the Heirlooms change form from owner to owner. Even after living for 300 years, Master Ellendun cannot confirm that. He claims he has never seen any Heirloom with his eyes twice irrespective of the form."
"That's what is difficult," said Anna, "we cannot go looking for Heirlooms either."
"What were the previous forms of the Heirlooms?" asked Raymond.
"A sword," said Master Owens, "it had the fire element which was destroyed, and an Heirloom with fire element was never seen again."
"The Cube and the Orb of wishing do not change shapes," said Master Latif.
"And other forms were rumored to be a spear, a hammer, and a shield," said Master Wyngaf. "No other details are known to me as no books have them and guarantee their data."
