I walk into my work expecting to be my last day. I've already said goodbye to my friends and coworkers. I've been quite the little celebrity in the little town. News travels fast I guess. My boss comes up to me and says "Corbin you'll be over on a different line today just because it's your last day and all." As he begins to walk over to the other department in the warehouse.

I look at him with some confusion as I follow him. My eyes light up when I realized where we were walking to. "Kevin now come on man don't be doing me like this." I say.

"This is your last chance to talk to her man, Everyone in here knows how much you like her. So now you get to go work with her." He says with a smile.

Professional hockey doesn't scare me, death doesn't scare me, there's only three things on this planet that scare me. 1) Bees. 2)Wasps. 3) Talking to pretty girls.

"Don't do this to-" I say before we arrive.

"Corbin this is Katie. Katie meet Corbin, he'll be working with you today. He says as he winks at me and  gently slaps me on the shoulder and walks away.

I couldn't move, as I looked at her. She had blonde hair and pretty blue eyes. She was about my height and looked skinnier than me, I only weighed 128 pounds. She had a pretty voice and seemed shy like me. I instantly thought about what happened after Joey left. It was about a month after she did and I finally moved on and finally summoned up the courage to "ask this girl out" when I mean ask her out I only met write her a love note.

"Have you worked this station before?" She asks.

I nod my head yes, not able to give a response. She could easily tell I was frightened. She laughs and says "Here we can put you at this station here." as she points to the station right next to where she was standing.

My body felt numb, my heart was racing a million beats per minute. "I'm sorry I might need a little refresher on how to build these." I said to her.

I couldn't tell if she smiled because we all had masks on to cover our mouths, hopefully it was because she giggled.

She walked over and did a quick demonstration. She was so quick about it, thankfully I've done it before otherwise I wouldn't have been able to figure it out if it was my first day.

She stepped to the side and looked at me, "Okay your turn."

I step in and do it as quickly as I can. "Wow, faster than me." She says. I look at her with a smile then realized I have a mask on. To her it was probably just me staring intently. "Alright well, if you need anything I'll be right here." She says.

"Okay thank you." I reply and look back at my station and start building the pieces as quick as I can.

I didn't want to avoid small talk with her but didn't know if she wanted it. So it caught me off guard when she asked, "So, I heard you have a crush on me."

I began to get red. I quickly had to think of something, " I- I- what are you talking about? Who said such thing before." I replied.

"You did," she laughed " didn't you pass me that little note asking me out?"

"I have not an idea whatsoever about that I just wrote down a little thing and gave it to y-" I stop.

She laughs even more "why didn't you just ask me out in person?"

I feel sweat boiling off of me, I feel as if I'm inside a sauna. "I have a problem with talking to pretty girls."

I catch her looking at me in the corner of my eye, I never turned to talk to her when I said that but I can see her turning red.

"You think I'm pretty?" She asks.

" Ask her if she thinks a moose could fly if it had a plane ticket," I thought. I couldn't believe what I was thinking of, I couldn't even think straight obviously.

"Yeah, hands down the prettiest girl here." I said. My mind drifts away and I think of Joey.

"Don't even think about it, to her you're nothing. If you were actually worth something to Joey she wouldn't leave you for other guys." I thought to myself.

Hours passed, we never went on break. We just kept working and talking. I was finally able to open up to her. I felt a little bit more confident as the minutes progressed and finally the bell went off. We didn't stop working or talking that entire 6 hours.

"So I guess this means I'll never see you again?" She asks, now knowing about the whole plan with my new team.

"Well I will be back again in Colorado taking on the pro team sometime this season. Maybe if I'm lucky enough I can get your number and I'll send you some tickets."

She nods her head yes and grabs out a piece of paper. She writes her number and snapchat and hands it to me. "See you later handsom-" she stops

I laugh and say "see you later gorgeou-" and stop as well.

She rolls her eyes playfully and walks away. I made a fist and punch the air in excitement. I just conquered a fear today, one that would've lead me to believe it was the beginning of something great, but little did I know, the rollercoaster I was about to go through.

//// so sorry for the late updates, my job has been a pain and so i've been late on these. I know this was probably a confusing or short chapter but I just needed to introduce katie. she's gonna be a big part here in a few chapters. I know I skipped a lot but it was mainly stuff from previous chapters, too much filler. anyways thank you and you know what I still think a moose could fly first class.
