"Corbin, Corbin,Corbin!"
"What?" Shaking my head and coming back to reality.
It was my teacher Ms Glaslow. A nice old lady to those who pay attention of course. She had grey hair kind of like how a grey cat looks, a little fuzzy and not as well put together hair. Then again old age does affect hair and skin cells. She had big glasses like a librarian and she was as tall as me or maybe an inch shorter, 5'8 possibly.
"Can you solve the problem on the board?" She says in a worried tone.
I look at the old chalk board which hasn't been replaced yet even if every other class room has whiteboards or projectors, she's old schooled, literally.
I glance at the problem and said. "X=32"
"How did yo-" Ms Glaslow says in a confused manner
I didn't pay much attention when she started talking again. I was freaking out. For the first time I stopped paying attention to class, twenty four hours ago there would have to be a meteor to stop me from paying attention and now all I could think about was Joey. A five minute walk and talk felt like five years. I adored everything about her; from her eyes to her giggle. I shook my head and pulled out my science notebook and flipped through the pages where I landed on my brain notes. "The brain is a complex and very intriguing organ, it has the power to release a chemical called serotonin, which makes us feel "happy" it can also create high levels or dopamine and spread it inside of our brain to cause the feeling of "love" a highly addictive chemical"
I mumble under my breath "Fucking Dopamine"
"What was that?!" Ms Glaslow yells at me
I look up and realize she was talking to me and my stomach drops as my body runs cold.
"I'm sorry Ms Glaslow"
"Corbin, I need to see you after class please."
My body shakes in fear, I've never been held back after class ever. I tried my best to calm my nerves but I couldn't and I start to shake more. I run up to the desk to grab the restroom pass.
"Are you okay Cor-" Ms Glaslow begins
"Yeah, I just have to use the latrine." I reply, quickly leaving the desk in the dust and walking out the door before she could say anything else.
I walk down the hallway until I run into someone's chest. Tumbling backwards and falling on my back, my face begins to turn red and I start to feel a cold shiver go through my body.
It's her.
"Joey I'm so so sorry I really didn't mean to."
"It's okay, but next time if you're falling for me just say it." She smiles and reaches her hand out to help me up.
"What do you mean? I merely lost balance and gravity took me down." I said while blushing. I grab her hand and she helps me upwards. She had a lot more strength than I thought and I wasn't prepared to be lifted up so quickly.
"You're joking right" she laughs and looks up at me
"Ye-e-eah" I stutter, making more of an embarrassing moment look even worse than it could've been.
"You're so cute oh my god." She replies and smiles.
"I uh-h am cute?" I reply starting to feel my blood pumping through my cheeks and blush.
"Yeah, so I was thinking 7pm I'll text you and if you're not busy you could show me around?" She replies her smile not faded as I anticipated.
"Of course! I'll see you then." I reply trying to get out of this conversation
"Sounds good!" She replies and nudges on my shoulder ever so softly.
I start to walk away and mumble "Yeah you do sound good"
"What happened?" Joey turns around quickly and says in a concerned tone.
"Oh nothing gorgeous." I reply with then I realized what I said and my eyes begin to widen and my jaw drops.
"It's okay." She smiles and replies back leaving me after a hand wave.
I sprinted to the bathroom faster than I ever ran in High School.
I passed the wet floor sign and went straight for the sink "I am in a world of trouble" I told myself as I reach to turn the faucet on. I lower my hands into the sink, feeling as if I could melt into a thousand atoms.
The cold water hits my hands and face as I begin to splash it onto my face. "This can't be real I'm just hallucinating that's all" I told myself. I roll my eyes and begin to walk back to class.
Ms Glaslow is going to be pissed, I've been gone for so long now; I thought to myself. I turn the doorknob and walk back into her class to see her reading a piece of paper and everyone else working. I look back up at the time and it was only five minutes since I left. I couldn't believe it.
"Corbin welcome back" Ms Glaslow whispers to me with a concerned looking smile.
I nod at her and take my seat. " What if I'm not good enough, what if I say the wrong things what if.."
RINGGGGGGGG
The bell alarms go off and I look at the clock. It reads 3pm, schools out.
"Corbin don't go anywhere, the rest of you have a good day!" Ms Glaslow says with a excited voice.
I feel like I'm defeated or just plain stupid. I don't have an answer to how I feel.
"You wanted to see me Ms Glaslow?" I say as I realized that I walked to her desk without even noticing.
"Yes Corbin, I noticed you were very distracted today during the lesson is everything alright? Is it your father again?"
Those words hit me like a brick. I didn't even think about him at all today. I usually do because he just gives me so much negativity that it affects how I study. I study every classes lessons for the next day on top of the current days' lesson because I fear of getting behind on school work.
"Yeah Ms Glaslow, I actually didn't think about him today." I told her with a dim smile.
"Oh? Then what had you concerned?" She replied with a mixture of curiousity and a bit of happiness.
"It was about a girl." I replied this time with a full blown smile.
"Don't let girls get the best of you" she replied humorously.
I smiled and replied with " I never usually do, but this one was able to and I don't know how but I'll get to the bottom of it."
She laughs " I hope not, you're free to leave Corbin have a good rest of your day."
I get up and walk out waving her goodbye. As I step out of the hallway I heard two voices in the now empty hallway.
"You're meeting him tonight? Are you sure that's a good idea?"
"Yeah there's something about him. That's like a reward bro"
I realize its Joey and Abby, I walk away before hearing more of the conversation. I didn't care I was gonna get to the bottom of this whole love stuff I was feeling.
////// Basically Corbin has never been in love and honestly this was like how I feel about someone.
