The bar AC kicks in as the already cold atmosphere turns bitter. I look up at my drink, it's been my 5th one of the night and I felt nothing besides pain. Katie looks at me with a smile. Do I tell her?
A pain in my chest shoots throughout my body. I've been having those lately, everything has gone downhill since I've gotten back from Seattle. I hardly can remember much of anything anymore, the ringing in my head hasn't gone away since my tryout.
She looks at me and says "I've gotta go home, but I'll catch you at work on Monday."
I smile, "Have a safe and goodnight." I reply.
She kisses me on the cheek as she walks out of the bar. I keep my eyes towards the door, hoping she'd turn around.
"I can't be doing this, not- yet." I thought to myself, the whole Joey incident was still in my head.
I feel a presence of someone sitting next to me, where she had just been. I turn to look, I see a curly haired man sitting there. He gave me a smile, "You've got a nice girlfriend there buddy."
I smile, "Thanks, but she's not my girlfriend."
He looks like me after I analyzed him a little bit more. Curly brown hair, brown eyes, looked a little bit thicker than I am. What am I thinking? Everyone is thicker than I am.
"How come?" He asks.
"Not the best time, still getting over someone else." I reply.
I look at the bartender as she brings me another drink. I glance over to the door again, wondering if Katie made it home already.
"Girls are definitely different, but sometimes you just got to do what you got to do brother." The stranger says.
I take a quick chug of my drink and look at him. "You're not wrong about that one. What's your name?"
"I'm-"
I stopped listening as everything begins to swirl, I don't feel drunk but off. I felt this way before, before- everything begins to grow darker and darker as everything goes black.
I wake up drenched in water, my head feels like I was hit by a boulder. The pounding headache makes it almost impossible to open my eyes, I grit my teeth as I open my eyes to see...
"Hi Corbin."
I try to move my arm but to no avail, she's got me tied to a chair.
"You and your fucking chairs Mia" I snarl.
"Whoa, no need for the hostility Corbs, I just wanted to talk to you." Mia says in her innocent voice.
I look up at her, she's under a hanging light. Makes this whole situation even better I thought to myself.
"And I just want to snap your fucking neck," I reply.
"As much as I'd like you to choke me again, I'm here because someone is interfering with my things." She says as she smacks me in the face.
I can feel a nerve in my cheek go wild, her hand was cold, I could only imagine how red the imprint was on my face.
"Hurry up and tell the villain dialogue so I can bust myself out of here." I reply.
She laughs, "Still funny as ever. That blonde chick that was with you tonight probably thinks so too."
I stop and look at her, she smirked. "Now I have your attention." She says.
"You and her are getting a little too friendly." She says,
She kneels down in front of me with an angry look. "You will always have to deal with me Corbin," She begins to rub my face with one hand as the other one comes down and smacks the other side of my face."Drop dead," I reply.
She gives me a fake sad look as she reaches behind her, I keep watching as she quickly moves her hand from her back to my knee. Instant pain fills my knee as I look to see a knife right into it. I feel a sharp pain go through my whole body as the reality sets in. She pulls the knife out, I can feel the bitter cold in the air go through my body completely now, I bite my tongue, stopping myself from screaming in pain.
"You should be a little nicer Corbs." Mia says as she kisses my cheek and walks away.
I watch as she leaves the room and move my leg up to my wrist. I try my best to cover it with as much blood as I can and free my hand. I reach over to free the other hand and then my legs as I hear footsteps coming back into the room.
I sneak over to the darkest part of the room, I'm taking aback by how large the room was. The lighting wasn't enough to cover the whole room leaving just enough darkness for me to blend in, at least I hope.
"Corbin, why do you have to make everything so difficult," Mia says as she flips on her phone light and reveals my spot.
"Michael, come in here and help me with Corbs." She yells.
The stranger from the bar walks into the room, and looks at me with a smile. "Come on man, get back in the chair."
He walks over to me and grabs my hand. I cocked my right arm back and punched him in the groin, he lets out a groan and falls to his knees. I cocked my arm back as he falls and punch him in the face. I hit him square in the nose, I feel the adrenaline pumping now as I begin to unload on him. I keep punching him until I looked to see my hand bloodied and his face looks unnoticeable from before.
"Wow Corbs, I didn't know you had such anger." Mia says.
I looked into her eyes, I can see her hands shake a little bit. She looks over and grabs a metal chair and runs up and tries to hit me with it. Unlike previous times she's done that, I didn't flinch this time. I caught it before she made impact.
"How did you-" She says.
I grab the chair and smash it into the wall.
I look her in the eyes, "did you forget I'm a ticking time bomb?"
She begins to shake more than before, I see her legs trembling a little bit.
"It was only a matter of time." I snarled,
"Now Corbin, you remember that you're still useless, worthless, no one will want you. I'm doing this for your own good."
"I'm going to be the one that greets you in hell, you're going to finally see what real torture is when you go." I reply as I walk past her and slam the door shut.
I look around and find a bottle of beer, i rip off part of my shirt and stuff it into the bottle as I hear the door open. I grab the lighter I saw next to the pack of cigarettes and turned around to see Mia and Michael
They noticed my molotov, I look at Mia "See you soon." I said as I pretend to light the molotov and throw it at them.
