"This is a fool's errand. All this simply to prove my innocence. However, nothing is simple if the Green Goblin is truly involved." Master Shen muttered to himself as he stepped off the airplane. It has been over twelve hours since Wilson Fisk had threatened his life, and although he hadn't spent even half of his alotted time already, he felt uncomfortable being pressured by the Kingpin of Crime. He knew what happened to those who failed him.
"Taxi!" Shen called as the nearest movable cab pulled up to his side.
"Were too?" The hippo beastman asked as Shen climbed into the vehicle.
"The native reserve outside of Gingertown. Get me there in under thirty minutes and I will pay double the price." Shen requested, as he down gazed at his watch. At least Tienshinhan should be done with match. He might as well give him a call.
"You don't have to ask me twice." The hippo smiled as he sped out of the sidewalk, willing to get there as fast as he can without breaking any traffic laws, or at least enough were the police would not take notice. Grumbling, Shen reached for his phone and dialed his top apprentice's number, eager to hear good news.
"Hello?" Tien asked as he picked up the phone. Immediately he could hear electricity and a lot of yelling in the background.
"Tienshinshan, this is Master Shen. Are the qualifying rounds over?" Shen asked.
"Not yet, Venom is currently fighting Rescue right now. However, all the other matches have ended, including my own." Bullseye responded.
"Really? The tournament isn't over yet? It should be almost sundown at Papaya Island. It should have ended well over a hour ago." Shen commented with relative surprise. "So did you win? I hope you did not disappoint me like young Chiaotzu."
"Yes Master Shen, I won my match. As a matter of fact, the reason why the tournament took so long was because Rescue had to transport Yamcha to the hospital after I brutally broke his leg. They were waiting for those two to return, so they had to delay the last two matches by one or two hours." Tien explained.
"Brilliant Tienshinhan! You made that surfer wolf fool suffer enough to go to the hospital. That pervert Roshi would have been distraught in the condition of his student." Shen said with glee.
"Yes, I hurt him badly, but for some reason he was alright by the time of the third match. I couldn't think of anything that would heal him up that quickly other than magic. Strange." Tien commented. Shen couldn't help but notice that his student had the slightest hint of regret in his voice, but he chose to ignore it for now. The master of the Crane School had other pressing matters occupying his mind so looking to cleanse whatever little morals Tien had was not important at the moment.
"Could be. They could have brought him to Fortuneteller Baba." Shen asked.
"No, Fortuneteller Baba was already watching the fight. If they needed her to heal Yamcha, they didn't need to leave." Tien revealed.
"Really? Baba was watching the tournament? I thought she believed these kind of events were too barbaric. If they didn't bring Yamcha to her, maybe Baba has an apprentice or colleague on Papaya Island? I doubt anyone can surpass Baba's magic." Said the skeptical Shen. "Tell me about the other matches."
"The first match was between Krillin and Violet, two of Roshi's students. Krillin ended up beating Violet badly, but for some reason Violet managed to convince him to step out of the ring. I don't know how she did it." Tien said.
"Very odd. The Turtle Hermit School is not known to persuade someone from stepping offstage, especially with their own. Their only language is through their fists. Here I thought Krillin would be the winner. Be warry of this Violet Tienshinhan, she may not be your typical warrior." Shen said.
