Hailey was at the district by herself as everyone was called to a scene but she offered to stay back and do some research into the teams current main case. She sat at her desk doing some work when she got a phone call from her mom, she and her mom hadn't seen each other in person since her dad had suffered a heart attack and ended up having to stay in hospital for a while and since then they had only spoke on text occasionally just due to how busy Hailey had been with work and with Jay leaving to go to Bolivia she hadn't been feeling like herself and was struggling to adjust to him being away and therefore she was being more distant not just with her mom but in general. When she saw that her mom was phoning her a strange feeling of fear washed over her, like she knew whatever her mom was going to say wasn't going to be good. She went into the break room in case any of the team came back and pressed accept then placed the phone to her ear.

"Hailey, I've got something to tell you are you alright to talk now?" Her mom said, Hailey couldn't make out much from her moms tone of voice but she knew for a fact she had been crying.

"Yes I can talk, what's going on?" Hailey asked her voice full of concern and uncertainty due to the fact she had no idea what she was about to be told all she knew is it definitely wasn't good.

Your dads gone. He died early hours this morning." Was all her mom said. As soon as Hailey heard this she froze for a second, trying to process the words that just came out of her moms mouth. Hailey stayed silent not being able to talk. She had questions like how did he die but she couldn't form any sentences or words to actually communicate the question out loud. After some more silence her mom shared some more details with Hailey as she knew Hailey would want to know  "His death was due to complications with his heart that were caused by the heart attack he had." This answered Haileys question and she was glad she knew what caused his death. She took a deep breath before talking in the hopes it would make words actually come out of her mouth which they did surprisingly. "Thank you for phoning me and telling me, I really have to go but I'll phone you soon so we can talk more if that's okay?" Her mom understood that it was a lot for Hailey to take in and agreed that they could phone again soon once they had both had more time to process the news. They said their goodbyes and as soon as Hailey hung up the phone she placed it in her back pocket and her hands reached up to grip the counter in front of her, she let her head fall down slightly and she squeezed her eyes shut then opened them and took multiple deep breaths. She felt nothing but complete and utter numbness She went and sat back out at her desk and continued with her work trying to push everything into the back of her mind, after a while Hailey felt something wet streaming down her face and landing on the papers on her desk in front of her. She was crying and she couldn't stop, the tears kept coming and her cry went from silent to sobbing so hard she was struggling to catch her breath, she got her hands and put them over her mouth to try quiet her sobs, she didn't want anyone downstairs to hear her and come upstairs. After what felt like a lifetime of crying, Haileys breathing had regulated itself and her tears had stopped. She groaned, she felt angry now. She felt angry at herself for crying and shedding tears over a man that caused her nothing but physical, emotional and mental pain.
