1 month and 2 weeks. That's how long Jay had been gone for so far. He was currently in Bolivia working with the army to track down drug cartels. Hailey hadn't seen him in person at all since he left and had only spoke to him a few times over the phone. Hailey wasn't finding it easy to deal with Jays absence, ever since he left she hadn't been doing great, she was struggling to deal with him being so far away and she had began developing a lot of physical symptoms such as extreme tiredness and bad nausea, she originally thought these symptoms were just due to her not getting enough sleep and not eating enough so she just tried to ignore them even though over the past month her symptoms had just been getting worse and more severe like she wasn't just feeling nauseous anymore she was now throwing up every morning. She was currently sat on her couch in her pyjamas, she had just gotten home from work and she got ready for bed and decided to put on a movie trying to do anything she could think of that would distract her from overthinking about Jay. She had got up to go use the bathroom when she realised she hadn't got her period. She went and checked her calendar and saw that she was due to start a new cycle a few weeks ago, which meant her period was currently three weeks late. She stood for a moment looking at the calendar and then she thought back to how she had been feeling for the past month, all the physical symptoms and a late period. She gasped to herself shocked that she hadn't thought about this possibility sooner.

Hailey had just got back from the store with a pregnancy test and she had just done it. She was stood with her hands on the bathroom counter, her fingers tapping the counter due to the mix of anxiety and impatience she was feeling. These three minutes felt like the longest three minutes of Haileys life as she waited for her phone timer to go off so she knew it was time for her to check the test that was currently laying down on the counter in front of her. Haileys mind had begun to wander as she thought about the idea of possibly becoming a parent. The timer went off snapping Hailey out of her day dream, she picked up the test and opened her eyes slowly feeling hesitant to look at it. Haileys eyes widened then she blinked multiple times before a look of realisation and shock washed across her face. 'Pregnant 4+' is what the test that was now being tightly held in Hailey's right hand said. She was over 4 weeks pregnant. Tears brimmed in her eyes, she was overwhelmed with a mix of emotions, happiness, shock, anxiety, fear and excitement. Her first thought was "I've got to tell Jay." Then her mind went into overdrive and other thoughts popped into her head "how am I going to tell him?" "Is he going to be happy about this?" "I have to go to the doctors?" "I hope everything with the baby's okay." After all these thoughts rushed through Hailey's mind she took a deep breath and tried to calm her self down, she knew she couldn't do anything right this moment and it was late, she just needed to go to sleep then phone the doctors in the morning and schedule an appointment.

Hailey woke up early after a night of broken sleep, she was restless and kept waking up then every time she tried to get back to sleep her mind would start to wander and overthink about things which just kept her awake. She got ready for the day then phoned the doctor who luckily had a time slot that same day in the late afternoon to see her. She spent the day at the district doing paperwork, looking through pod footage and finding suspects ids and records. She never usually did just this as she would usually be outside helping physically but due to the time of her appointment it made the most sense for her to stay inside so she didn't risk getting held up at a scene and then missing her appointment.

Haileys appointment went really well. She found out she was six weeks pregnant and the baby was healthy and the doctor had no concerns which was a massive relief and made Hailey feel significantly better. She was also given a strip of ultrasound pictures which made it feel all the more real since she was actually getting to see the baby. After her appointment she decided to go to the store as she had an idea of how to tell Jay the news. She bought a light grey box, grey tissue paper, card and a baby onesie. Once she got home she got the idea made and all put together in the box then she taped it all up in another box to ensure it would be safe and not get damaged. She went to the post office and got it sent off, she felt a mix of anxiety and excitement as she handed the box over to be sent away, she didn't know how Jay was going to react and she wished more than anything that she could tell him this news in person but she knew that just wasn't possible at the moment so she just had to wait for him to receive it then hope he would be able to get in contact with her after.

Jays POV
A package had just been delivered for Jay and he had just been handed it. He took it back to the room he was staying in and placed it on his bed so he could open it. He had a feeling it was either from Hailey or his brother Will but he wasn't 100% sure what it could be. As soon as he got the tape off of the box he was able to open it and inside was another box except this one wasn't brown cardboard it was square and light grey and it was sealed on each side with pieces of tape. He peeled all the tape back and lifted the lid off of the box revealing a display of things organised neatly and laid on top of grey tissue paper. His eyes scanned over everything in the box. It took him a while before he processed the box full of things he was looking at and his eyes widened in shock as he began to take the things out of the box, The first thing he picked up was a pregnancy test that said 'pregnant 4+' and he couldn't quite believe it until he saw an ultrasound picture laying at the left side of the box on top of a newborn onesie that was white and said the words 'hello daddy, see you soon' across it in black writing. Jay was currently holding the onesie in his hand as tears brimmed in his eyes. He was not expecting this at all but he was definitely not unhappy about it, he felt excited and all he wanted to do was go home and be with Hailey. He thought he was finished going through everything in the box and he went to put it down on the floor at the side of his bed when he realised there was two envelopes in the bottom of the box one said 'to Jay' and the other said 'to daddy.'

He opened the first one and it read 'To Jay... Surprise! I wanted nothing more than to tell you this in person but I knew that wasn't a possibility so I did the next best thing, I don't know how you're going to react when you open this package but regardless I want you to know that I know we aren't physically with each other right now but I promise we're going to work with each other to ensure this all works out. I felt so many different emotions when I first found out but now I know that I want this baby. I want a family with you and I'm really excited about this new chapter of our lives and I can only hope that you feel the same way. Please contact me when you can in whatever way you can. I hope you're safe and well and I can't wait to see you again soon. I love you so much. Hailey❤️.' He wanted to cry, he really missed Hailey and wanted nothing more than to be with her in her arms, sharing the excitement with her and reassuring her that he wanted this too. He got out the second envelope and opened it up, it read 'To Daddy, Hi! I know you don't really know anything about me and you haven't met me yet but I can't wait to meet you! I have a feeling you're going to be very good at the whole dad thing and I'm very excited to see your face for the first time and make memories with you. Love from your baby🤍.' A smile was currently present on Jays face. He thought both of the letters were really nice. He now wanted to contact Hailey so he could talk to her and so he could tell her how he felt so she wasn't sitting worrying about his reaction to the news as he was happy about it and he wanted her to know that.
