Hailey and Jay were currently at the store picking up different things for their date night, they had decided to attempt to make and cook a three course meal together and then spend the rest of the night watching movies in the living room cuddled up on the couch with lots of blankets. They decided for their starter they were going to making tomato bruschetta, for their mains they were going to make pizzas and for their dessert they decided on chocolate lava cakes. They managed to get all the ingredients on their list that they needed as well as a few other essentials they needed to top up on like toothpaste, paper towels, cleaning supplies etc.
Once Hailey and Jay got home they unpacked all the shopping then decided to get everything ready for their date night Hailey lit some candles around the living room and a couple on the dining table and while she was doing that Jay was in the kitchen getting the ingredients out for them to start making their various different courses.
Surprisingly all of the cooking had been going well and nothing had went wrong so far there had been no fires, no one cutting their finger open while trying to chop anything and also nothing had fell on the floor, Hailey and Jay were now both sat at the dining table in their candle lit apartment eating their desserts. They spoke about the food they made, their relationship, how they were doing and a couple other things. After they finished their meal they went into the kitchen to clean all the dishes Hailey washed them all then Jay dried them and put them away, Hailey was currently washing one of the wine glasses they used at dinner time after she washed it with the soap and warm water she went and placed it on the side so Jay could dry it but as she went to move her hand back to the sink to finish washing the rest of the dishes she ended up knocking it over with her hand and it fell off of the side and shattered into lots of different pieces right on the grey kitchen tiles next to her feet. Jays head shot round at the sound of the glass shattering. He looked at Hailey then down at the floor that was now covered in shards of glass. He began walking over to her, wanting to make sure she was okay and she hadn't stepped in any of the glass. Haileys eyes widened in fear as she seen Jay approaching her and it was like a fight or flight response went off inside of her she began running towards the door in fear, tears streaming down her face and her breathing rapid due to the mix of fear and anxiety she was feeling. Jay began to go after her, once he got near where Hailey was she was fumbling with the key to try and unlock the front door of their apartment, she dropped the key due to her hands shaking and as soon as she went to pick it up she seen Jay and she just gave up. She slid her back down the front door and held her hands and arms up over her face and head. "Please don't hit me, I'm really sorry, please don't hit me." Hailey begged him through sobs. "Hey hey hey Hails. I'm not going to hit you, I promise, you're okay and you're safe, take a deep breath." Jay said in a quiet voice taking another step back from Hailey as he didn't want to scare or startle her more. "I was only walking over to you so I could check you were okay and none of the glass had went into your feet but I'm so sorry I startled you and scared you that was not what I was trying to do at all, I'm so sorry." Hailey managed to look up at Jay now that she had took some deep breaths, stopped crying and had gotten over the initial fear she was feeling a moment ago. Her cheeks were now stained with tears and Jay could see her still shaking a little as her hands were shaking on her knees. "Can I come and sit beside you please?" Jay asked her, she nodded her head and he walked towards her slowly, taking a seat next to her on the floor against the door, he cupped her hands in his and gave them a gentle squeeze to try stop the shaking. Hailey leaned her body into Jay's side and they stayed like this for a while. Jay whispering comforting words to her and Hailey finally relaxing due to Jays gentle touch and calm voice.
"Did you get any glass in your feet?" Jay asked her now that she was calm enough to answer him. "no I don't think so, I'm sorry for reacting the way I did, it's just I've never broke anything in front of you before and I had no idea how you were going to react, in the past when I've dropped or broke something even by accident I would get physically abused because of it and flashbacks from that just came to the front of my brain and took over." Hailey apologised, feeling embarrassed for acting the way she did. "You have nothing to be sorry for Hailey. Also I know me saying this doesn't change what's happened to you in the past but please remember that I would never and will never ever hit you or abuse you in anyway at all. Accidents happen and there's nothing wrong with that, it's all okay, everything's okay." Jay was still holding Haileys hands but instead of cupping them in his he was now holding them and brushing his thumbs over her knuckles. "Thank you, getting that reassurance helps me more than you'll ever know. Also I will buy a new glass to replace the one I broke, I'm going to go clean up the mess I made now." She rambled then tried to stand up to go clean but Jay gently tugged her arm so she stayed sitting down with him. "Don't worry about that I'll clean it up also this is just an excuse for us to go out and pick some new wine glasses which is fun." He said sending her a small smile he knew she enjoyed a little bit of shopping sometimes especially if it was house decor or accessories. She smiled at him then rolled her eyes at him. He just pulled her into a hug and placed a kiss on her head, they stayed sat on the floor for a while longer before they got up. Jay got Hailey to go pick a movie while he cleaned up the broken glass and finished sorting the rest of the dishes then they continued the rest of their date night neither of them bringing up or talking about the broken glass.
