thank you so much @charlie91706 for requesting this. Here's a part 2 to my most previous one shot, in this part I'll be talking about Haileys mental recovery process after being kidnapped and how Jay supported her through it, i hope you like it:)
Hailey was home, back in the comfort of her and Jays apartment. She was quiet the whole car ride home and then when she got home she went in the shower then put on some pyjamas. She was currently sitting on the couch with her knees up to her chest and her arms wrapped around them, her chin was resting on her knees and she was staring forward with a blank expression, she was in a day dream, thinking about the experience she had just been through. "Hails." Jay said touching her shoulder. Hailey was startled and her whole body jumped then when she fully came out of her daydream she sighed in relief and looked up at Jay, he apologised to her. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to startle you, I was wondering if you wanted me to make you something to eat?" Hailey was not in the mood to eat anything she felt sick to her stomach because all that was playing on repeat in her mind was what occurred earlier in the day. "No thanks I'm not hungry." She said. Jay knew after everything that happened that pushing her to eat wasn't a good idea, he could try get her to eat something tomorrow. "I'm going to go to sleep" Hailey said heading through to her and Jays bedroom and laying in bed, jay went to go cuddle with Hailey but her back was facing away from him and he seen she had her eyes closed, he decided to give her some space and he also didn't want to disturb her so he went and sat in the living room and began to look up things to try learn the best ways to help Hailey after what she'd went through and what the best forms of support were. He kept their bedroom door open and went in to check on Hailey every five minutes, making sure she was still asleep and everything was okay.
It had been just over an hour since Hailey had fell asleep and Jay had just checked on her so he was back sitting on the couch still researching and reading things to help him help Hailey. All of a sudden he heard a scream and he ran straight through to Hailey. She was saying things like "please don't hurt me", "stop" and "no" and she was flinching. Jay grabbed hold of her shoulders and shook her gently but enough to get her to snap herself out of what was happening. "Hailey. Hailey," he repeated her name "wake up, you're having a nightmare, none of its real." Jay said to her repeating it a couple of times before Hailey came out of it. She sprung up so she was sitting up in the bed, her forehead had little beads of sweat littered across it and she began to breathe deeply. Jay went and sat next to her on the bed and began to rub her back. "Deep breath in and out, you're okay, it was just a dream, it wasn't real, you're safe in our home and you're with me." Jay said as he continued to rub his hand up and down her back and coach her through her deep breaths until she'd calmed down. Hailey cuddled into jays side and he placed his arm around her waist pulling her close to him. "I want you to know you don't have to talk about anything that's happened or anything like that until you feel ready but just know whenever you do I'll be right her ready to sit and listen to it all." He said wanting to reassure her there was no rush for her to talk unless she felt ready to. "Thank you, I really appreciate that." Hailey said before she started yawning, Jay knew she was exhausted and got her to lay down on his chest. She was terrified to go back to sleep in fear of another nightmare occurring but Jay ran his fingers through her hair and kept saying comforting things and just under an hour later she fell back asleep. Jay forced himself to stay awake for another couple hours to make sure she was never woken by another nightmare. Jay wrapped his arms around Haileys waist and held her securely in his arms and after a while he dozed off to sleep to.
Jay woke up and Hailey wasn't in bed with him. He got up and went to go find her, he found her sitting on the couch staring off into space. As he went to walk towards her the pressure of his feet caused the wooden floor to creak under his feet which made her jump. "Hey it's just me Hails." Jay said slowly sitting down beside her not wanting to make her jump again. Jay checked up on her often but she was really withdrawn and quiet the whole day. People were going to pop in to see how she was but she told Jay she didn't want to see anyone and he respected that and everyone understood. Jay managed to get her to eat a bowl of soup that evening but that was it. She fell asleep early and woke with another nightmare, jay comforted her through it and then she fell asleep again in Jays arms for the rest of the night.
6 months later
The last six months had been an absolute rollercoaster for Hailey but the support she had around her helped massively with her recovery process. The first few months after it happened were full of so many different emotions for Hailey such as shock, numbness, anxiety, depression, anger, and a sense of helplessness. She felt all of these over the first few months, sometimes just feeling one for a period of time and sometimes feeling a mixture of a few all at once. She suffered from nightmares but luckily Jay was there to comfort her through them all and after a while Hailey and Jay realised when she was sleeping in Jays arms she didn't seem to wake up from nightmares, she thinks this is because of the comfort and safety she feels while shes with him. She had been doing desk work at the district due to her heightened anxiety and she was also not being very talkative to the other people she worked with but after a little while she began to open up to Jay about all the feelings she was experiencing and the thoughts she was having as well as what had happened while they had her held hostage. Jay sat and listened to every single thing she said, never judging her once and comforting her. She also started going to see a Psychologist who she spoke to about what was going on and she worked with to help her find coping mechanisms and ways to begin to live her life again after the event that had occurred. Opening up lifted a massive weight for Hailey and the fact she never got judged helped make her feel better as well. After some therapy and work she was cleared to go back to work and she felt ready to, she didn't mind desk work but she missed being back out getting bad people off the streets and helping people. She started to become less isolated over time also which was a positive thing, she started by just talking to the people she worked with during work and after a couple months she started going out to Mollys and stuff with them again which felt really refreshing for Hailey since she hadn't done it for a period of time. Life never fully went back to normal for Hailey but she managed to find ways to live her life despite what she had went through and even though she had heightened anxiety and the occasional flashback among a couple other things on the odd occasion, she finally felt adjusted to her new normal and Jay had been her biggest support through it all. She'd never forget all the things he done for her while she was going through those difficult months. Washing her hair for her when she didn't have the energy, holding her after any nightmares or flashbacks, taking deep breaths with her when her anxiety got bad, staying by her side while she went through every single emotion, taking bites of food with her to encourage her to eat something and so many other things that just helped her manage to come out the other side of this.
